One thing I think people don't realize about Re Zero is how much Subaru has gone through in SUCH LITTLE time. Arc 1 with Elsa was only a single day. Arc 2 with the forest mabeasts was 4 days. Afterwards, there was an approximate one week break where the Memory Snow Ova happens. Arc 3's capital shenanigans was over the course of 2 days while the whale hunt and fight against the Witch's Cult took 3 days. And finally we have Subaru's time in the Sanctuary which is another 3-4 days including the trip there. This means that Subaru has only been in Re Zeros world for less than a month (around 21-25 days total), and has had to undergo so much in such a short amount of time. Its a miracle he's still sane.

The theme of this episode to me is us seeing Subaru taking the full tactical advantage of RbD, which means Subaru now sees his life as nothing more than an asset, and with that the lives of everyone around him as nothing more than check marks on a list. Seen with how he commented about the letter to Emilia and Petra's promise. If one thing Subaru has made clear in the last two seasons is that he loves Emilia (and Rem) and he fears death, he is scared of it more than anyone because he understands what it is like. The reason he has this "newfound" confidence is because he thinks Echidna has him covered, which in the past few weeks have been pointed out as shady by many people. And lastly, this is Re:Zero, Sufferu gotta Sufferu.Thus is it a good change? Is he becoming less and less 'human' by discarding his fear of death? The mindset of what he got to lose is very inhuman for many people. A monster... What if, by the end of the story, Subaru has no feelings or personality at all? Is it really worth it, if that end goal costs him his very soul? The word I know hell, as badass as it is might not be something I want Subaru to say...

My guess is that the enxt episode is basically only this loop, while ep 12 might turn out 1 hour long, like the first ever Re:Zero episode, wich might bring the end of the loop and in the next one will be the good loop and he will finally manage to deal at least with Elsa. I’ve read both novels but only now I find it really impressive how there’s always character development or relationship development in every single episode in this season Like Episode 1 Subaru rem Emilia development Episode 2 Beatrice development Episode 3 well this one is an info dump so yeah no character development but there’s a little relationship development between Emilia and Subaru Episode 4 well do I need to say it ? SUBARU become one of my favorite character in anime Episode 5 little relationships development with Emilia and Subaru Episode 6 ram and Subaru relationships development Episode 7 Beatrice Subaru and Otto Episode 8 Patrasche and Subaru and Echidona Episode 9 Subaru and Echidona And episode 10 Subaru Garfiel Emilia Otto and Ryuzu See almost every episodes have some kind of development to the cast
