omg i have been collecting coins for 2 years now and im still trying to learn but there is so much to learn. i went threw at least $100,000 worth of coins most of them pennies witch is very time consuming but any time i have found anything strange or not normal minus the normal circulation damages. i would set them back and the DD's i was always told its just shelving but after more researching and this video i have just realized ive possibly hit jack pots. like i have at least just in pennies class 1 and 2 dd's i have at least 100

PCGS graded DD populations can be very small compared to non DDs. Yet, price guide does not reflect rarity necessarily in many cases. If demand increased there would appear to be much upside in price.

I really enjoy the hunt myself , damaged or really damaged lol. I understand everyone wants their "mint" or Uncirculated. but for me when I hold an old 1932 penny I got at the gas station tonight. picking through the take a penny holder, I don't see the damage I see the history. Imagine the story this penny would tell if it could talk. The places it been, the people who have held it! Ya got one that sat in great granpas dresser, or closet all them years put up in a case. Meh this one though has seen things.. anyway.. love the vid they are most valuable knowledge!

I can't thank you enough. I never knew how many levels of coin did there were. No one else has pointed this out and you're the first who has. I notice dimes are the toughest because a lot look like they have dd on In God We Trust or they fade on We Trust. My bf has one penny 1941 and the 1 wasn't punched in well or weak dd and it's 194. Would that be worth grading? Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of information.

One of the most useful resources I have found for major errors and varieties is the PCGS Coinfacts app. Used in conjunction with Variety Vista, Wexler Die Variety files, Lincoln Cents Online and CopperCoins, it provides a multitude of large, high resolution images for my offline error/variety diagnostic archive (currently sitting at about 15 GB when you include the hi res images of coins I've picked as well as current coins under review). These are far more indispensable than simply posting images on a forum and asking "what's this worth?". Bear in mind that the 1919 P Winged Liberty Dime DDO was mis-diagnosed by forum members as MD. You hit the nail on the head: you MUST educate yourself on these issues to both know what you're looking at and what you're looking for.

That's a drop in the bucket when trillions have been minted. You could spend your lifetime not finding a valuable doubled die, then someone else looks in their change jar and hits the jackpot. It's a law of averages but population reports don't lie, most doubled dies are too common and no doubled die is worth a million dollars, most errors are not worth more than a $100.
