Good Afternoon. I have just watched this video and l really enjoyed the derivation of these phrases. Getting the Sack/Getting Fired was new to me. It's always nice to learn something new - so thank you! BTW I have watched staff in Buckingham Palace setting out the dining room for a State Dinner and, yes, it was measured with a tape to check each guest's space AND staff used their thumbs for glasses and cutlery. Even the placing of the chairs was measured, including the distance from the table. As were the positions of floral arrangements. It was almost an artform.
