Talk’s Ian Collins is joined by contaminated blood scandal victim Robbie Brown, who shares his horrific story.
It comes as an inquiry found that the biggest treatment disaster in NHS history “could largely have been avoided” and there was a “pervasive” cover-up to hide the truth.
More than 30,000 people were infected with deadly viruses while they were receiving NHS care between the 1970s and 1990s.
Robbie was given a blood transfusion after his appendix was removed aged 10 in July 1974. He was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 2006, despite records from the time showing he had hepatitis following blood transfusions.
Robbie tells Ian: "I sort of died, stopped breathing for 11 minutes, I was given the last rites twice."
