Red gate protected Jinwoo. When he entered he was weaker than Dongsoo but when he leaves he will be close to him. In fact, I think the system manifested that gate to protect him from dying too early

Spoiler-free trivia : Difference between Red Gates and ordinary gates (hard to define this without spoilers but I'll try) : An ordinary gate is a portal that transports you to a dungeon, and you can measure the level of monsters inside by measuring the energy coming out of the gate, which is how the association classifies each gate (this part belongs in the s1 manga, anime version didn't show it very clearly so it isn't really a spoiler.) The Red Gate however, is a portal to another world, and you can't precisely measure the level of monsters inside it because the gate itself blocks much of the energy coming out of it. So far based on observations, most red gates have appeared to be of rank B or above. It is also observed that you cannot exit a red gate unless the boss inside is slain. But you can walk out of ordinary dungeons anytime, that's what normally happens, the hunting party goes in, kills the monsters and comes out, then the excavation party from the same guild goes in to collect the treasures. To defeat say for example a rank B Dungeon, you need a higher level of hunters (A or S in this case) or a large number of same level hunters (8 to 10 B rank hunters). Because you don't want a perfect match, you want the hunters to be more powerful than the dungeons to avoid casualties. To defeat an A rank dungeons you need multiple A rank hunters or a few S rank hunters. To defeat an S rank gate you need a large number of S rank hunters which was what happened in Jeju Island raid 3 years ago as seen in s1 ep1. When shadow soldiers die, they can be immediately respawned if Sung Jinwoo has enough MP left. If not enough MP is left, then they just get stored in Jinwoo's shadow (which is basically a pocket dimension) and once Jinwoo replenishes his Mana points by potions or naturally over time, they are ready to be summoned on the battlefield again. Also, the number of shadows he can store is directly tied to his intelligence stat, it doesn't really increase his IQ. And the number of Mana points (MP) used per shadow depends upon the power level of that shadow.

Cha Hein wasn't even a hunter back then. That's why the ants developed wings as seen in s1 finale, they had 3 years and given ants lifespan that is too much generations worth of time.
