Also, I am really having to look hard for anything to resell, they’re sending the good stuff to be sold on the internet. PA seems to have really great sourcing opportunities.

Karen, I had the same issue with my ice maker. This is what fixed mine: Take the bin the ice falls into and pour boiling hot water inside it. Place back in freezer. The steam will help unfreeze the mechanism inside. Or that’s the theory anyway. Did this twice and my ice maker has worked great ever since. Free fix= worth a shot

Blue Leaded Glass Shade Lamp: when the bulb base is still inside, with broken shards or the center filament, I have successfully removed the bulb base using a hunk of Potato. I was shown this method 30 or 40 years ago. The potato is soft enough to be pushed into the socket, but firm enough to turn out the bulb base. Works on ceiling light fixtures too. Oh, the Twisty Thing on top is a Finial.

In regards to the massive amount of stock in these Goodwills lately: I’ve noticed whenever I go thrifting now, there’s not nearly as many people in the stores these days! A lot of Goodwills especially raised their prices so much, coupled with inflation, my theory is they priced themselves out of casual thrifting! Either that or Karen was on vacation too long and didn’t help to keep that particular GW’s stock down 😁

Melissa, I'm seeing the opposite in my area. The GWs and other thrifts, are overwhelmed with flipper-resellers. It's difficult literally, sometimes, to get up and down the aisles for the people standing at shelves and running comps. We're in an era now that's being officially titled, "The Great Resignation Era", because so many people after the pandemic, don't want to go back to traditional jobs. They are all looking to be reseller/flippers and at least here in this busy metro city, they're everywhere. I feel like that is also driving the prices up - and - depleting stock here. Our local Salvation Army looks like it's on its last legs. They just remodeled the store to take in more stuff, be better organized - and their shelves are literally bare, with big areas of empty floor space. People aren't donating to them, at least - and their central office culls from other stores to furnish stock at this local store. The cashier/manager told me she calls once a week to tell "central" to send her a truckload b/c they're not taking items in, in this suburb. I hope it gets better!
@nrivera43802 жыл бұрын
Agree! Also, Target has too much inventory and is slashing its prices on a lot of stuff, so people are buying new at all these places instead.
@laurie42752 жыл бұрын
I completely agree - it's because they raised their price to match new retail prices. This makes no sense to me, but a manager herself told me they price match current retail prices. That's just senseless. I think a whole lot of people, like myself, are going to privately owned second hand thrift stores, and supporting the small business owner.

I had an icemaker fridge in my first house, fairly new but it quit. Fridge people had to replace the whole unit but it was still under warranty. The way it was explained the little round shoot where the ice comes out stayed open after getting our ice and the outside air made the metal round coil freeze up. At the same time, he told us the compressors on some were being faulty so he replaced that at the same time! It was like getting a brand new fridge!!

Hi Karen, in regards to your two thousands dollars refregirator not dispecing ice, you might want to check if the hose needs to be replaced from the water line, or you might want to check the back to see if the water line became loose. I had the same thing happen to me until I found out the hard way in South Florida until I called an 24 hour appliance institution and charged me a ninety five dollars service call. You might be better off calling the manufacturer if your appliance is registered online sometimes the many brands have customer service and guide you when you have them online while speaking to them.
