When I was a kid I loved the action and heroism a world war could bring, the emotion of challenges and thinking I could be a leader of my community, never stopped watching movies of that style. Now as a grown man, seeing all the current situation regarding geopolitics, China, Nato, Russia, Mid East, all people suffering and facing an escalade of conflicts between global powers... From the deepest of my heart I just want peace, a future for my family and all other people like me arround the world struggling to get to the next day, in a trench, seeking for a plate of food. I was so stupid, war sucks.

Remember all of the vintage atomic test footage? The bombs they used in those tests were underpowered and obsolete *at* *the* *time* *those* *tests* *were* *filmed* . There is also a lot of other things about nuclear war that they really glossed over, often making it seem like it's going to just be an extended snow day for those outside of the major cities and radiation was something that could be dealt with just using standard hygiene practices. 😐 And there would be nothing "heroic" about a nuclear war. Just men sitting at consoles turning keys and pushing buttons, as the top brass go into hiding. And other soldiers and civilians alike get cooked to a crisp in an instant, or slowly and painfully die, or fight over the last remaining scraps depending on where they were inside and outside the blast radius. Nothing to romanticize about that

I was born in 1963. In 1970, an air raid siren would go off once a week. All I know is it had something to do with the Cold War, or so I was told. I was in grade at the time in Spokane, Washington. It usually happened during lunch, and all of the kids were supposed to get down in a 'bombing position'. The siren was 5 blocks away, yet it was so loud it hurt our ears. I remember one afternoon, while on the playground, after lunch, we all got up and started playing. After that, we kids would play while the siten was going. I must have lasted for 10 minutes, maybe longer.

I spent the Cuban Missile Crisis in a bomb shelter on a US Air Force base in Germany. I was also 8. I slept on top of a 55 gallon drum of water. The adults were terrified, and had no chance to hide it. We didn't see my dad, a Master Sergeant admin clerk for the fighter wing, for an entire week. I was told later that the F-4's on the base were nuclear capable, and were kept at the end of the runway, engines running. Good times, good times.

@natheria4933
@natheria4933 Жыл бұрын
the worst part about this is that if its raining this bad and your area is near a target from a strategic nuclear weapon, not only are the chances of successful interception by missile defense low, but the radioactive fallout will spread much faster due to the strong winds and rain. On the bright side, it may help prevent the spread of fires. But radiation almost always in the number one killer in a potential nuclear attack. Thats because while it's effects are not usually immediate, it persists in lethal amounts anywhere from 2 weeks minimum to over a month. Then there's the secondary less lethal but more long term effects such as cancer, tumors, stillborn birth, becoming barren and unable to have children, among many other things. The reason nukes arent used or desired to be used is simply because its effects are practically permanent. It isnt a normal bomb in that after detonation aside from fire or debris, there really is no harm towards the long term habitation of the affected environment. When radiation from a nuclear weapon could potentially persist to harmful amounts for centuries. Making much of the planet's best habitable land uninhabitable. In the event of a mass nuclear exchange, society will largely end except for surviving military elements keeping the peace in nearby surviving communities. In the event of a nuclear attack like this, your best bet is to hunker down as deep underground as possible for at least 1 to 3 months. The longer, the better. Ideally you would want a bunker with an air filtration system rated to filter out radioactive fallout from air particles into the bunker. If you dont have it, use gas masks as much as possible except for doing essential actions like eating or drinking. Dont drink ground water after an attack as it most likely is contaminated with pollutants, sewage, and quite possibly radiation. If you have prior warning and time, stock up on as much water as possible from sinks, tubs, and attempt to seal it from the outside. Including preventing air circulation from the outside. Without substantial water reserves, you will not survive the first week of a major nuclear attack. If you manage to make contact with military or federal organizations still operational after the attack, follow evacuation directions or directions issued to you from them. After a major mass cas attack, people will become the most vital resource for the country. Meaning that you should put trust into the surviving leadership and follow their instruction as your survival is paramount to their own well being in rebuilding society. If there is no remaining federal or state level government left that you cant make contact with, try finding a group of other people to work with as you will not survive alone long. Your best chance to long term survival in a long term societal collapse and complete loss of government is to make your way to higher terrain. Preferably mountainous regions. Which can provide clean water directly from the source and drastically reduce radiation fallout exposure as the polluted winds will be trapped in the lower lands such as valleys. These places cannot usually maintain large populations, but a small group of survivors could potentially make a small settlement in the mountains to survive long term. Ultimately though, your chances of surviving a global nuclear war is almost none. Even if your rich or powerful. If a war gets that bad, its very likely the entire world will be irreparably damaged for hundreds if not thousands of years, and we might all starve out before food supplies in the environment can recover enough to keep us alive. Its very likely that if anyone were to survive long term in a war like this, it would only be very small groups of survivors. In which a lack of genetic diversity would ultimately send us to extinction as there is not enough genetic variety to effectively repopulate the earth to a stable degree. Meaning that within one to two generations, our entire species will probably go extinct anyways due to a lack of remaining population to rebuild with. Disease, and potential further resource wars would also contribute to the ultimately extinction of the human race. Just pray you never have to witness this in your lifetime.

Even if one one-thousandth of one percent of all people survive, that's still 60,000 people. If sheltered in remote places upon the beginning of a nuclear war, that would still be enough for humanity to continue after a couple thousand years. We're not going to die off. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but this worked out to add even more tension and atmosphere: the broadcasts seemed to be delayed and almost out of order like the info was being delayed just enough to make someone even more frantic and to not quite make sense in an orderly fashion, or the situation fell to crap very quickly when stuff wasn't working out as planned...I.E.- the 6 initial missiles being talked about for awhile, then the US and Nato firing the ~20 ICBM's back at Russia to cripple the aggressor, but they apparently didn't work, Russia invading Alaska and taking over a part of Canada, the President giving the little speech saying something about there was communication with the Russian president and they were supposedly open to peace talks, then randomly the US, France, UK and India launching 24 further nuclear missiles into Russia, then a little bit later towards the end the very haunting message of Russia sending 40 nukes to wipe out the US major city zones and the cold robotic voice saying this would cause a nuclear winter, more or less killing off the entire food supply and dropping the Earth's temperature quite a bit for years... If you weren't chosen to go into the US gov fallout shelters you were basically SOL. The more I think about it I don't think I'll ever forget how haunting it all was, the raging thunderstorm overhead all the while masking or mimicking the sounds of the bombs going off. Like the Earth was angry that humans, no matter the consequences and despite living in the modern age with more or less the entirety of information known to man available at any time with a query into our modern pocket computer smartphones, weren't able to overcome our savage nature. The robotic voice saying to euthanize pets outside, and the body being able to be buried in 2 weeks and if someone got sick and died from the radiation to not touch them and put a blanket if possible over the body until 2 weeks had passed was pretty cold and haunting too... I don't know why, but, last night after listening to this I actually slept really deep and good for the first time in awhile, I had been quite sleep deprived lately with some sinus crap unable to sleep for more than a few hours and do a little broken up nap in the afternoon which still wasn't enough. Bravo on the video, I'm not sure if you've done any, but if not, some vids detailing the start of a zombie apocalypse would be cool too on a rainy night, or even an escaped murderer from an insane asylum loose in your state on a rainy night, then the info slowly zeroing in on your county general area, then your metro area, then your town, then the power being cut off to your neighborhood so the tv news stops, static being played as if someone turned on a handheld radio, then when tuned into the right station in the middle of another broadcast you hear police are looking in your area, to turn all lights out and to not make any noise or open the door for anyone, it could maybe end with something softly knocking at the door, when you don't answer the knob turning, and it ending with glass breaking, sirens in the distance somewhat getting closer, and some deranged breathing and grunting as the insane murderer lumbers around your house looking for their next victim as you try and remain hidden, with the true ending being left up to interpretation if you made it out alive that night as the sirens seemingly stop outside your house with the storm still going :P

I really don't want such a dream, i had such a dream as a child after watching a documentary about this topic. The really fckd up thing was not the dream it self but that i woke up lookes outside the window and there was a bright light, i was imediadly out of bed an ran towards my parents bedroom and the moment i came out of my rooms door my father was already standing in the floor, i was really terrified... The bright light was the lighting of our house by the way because my dad was comming home from his shift and yeah he stood in the floor because of the same reason but it all fitted exactly into my dream. It took him like an hour to calm me down. Really fckd up if you wake up in the wrong moment and everything fitts into the scenario of the dream atleast if it was a nightmare... I was never ever that scared in my life again.

I used to think the Preppers were ridiculous. No, they weren't..that's why I sold everything and left the city, moved to huge acreage on a river in the mountains. If I can survive the nuclear fallout, I can survive anything here. I believe in arming yourself and becoming very proficient in such. Pretty much living off the grid, growing our own food, and being as self sufficient as possible.

Subbed. ❤ Just found this tonight and listened to it while reading comments. It creates a lot of mixed feelings. My ex-military side tells me to lay down, breathe evenly and try to sleep, while the side of me that has returned to being civilian feels my heart sink into my chest. That impending doom feeling. That side of me just wants to walk outside and let it come. Just make it quick. Sad, I know. The whole video is very well done though, I 100% agree! Was watching the "small animal" crossing the road, realizing that it was a loop, but other then that, I loved it. Think it's a cat or raccoon?? Lol. I wouldn't worry about it. It's meant for listening. BTW, thank you for adding the Canadian warnings as well. We're only next door to you guys. 🍁 If it hits you, it'll hit us too. In the end, working together against a common enemy is where it'll matter most. I would just as soon lay my life down for American friends as I would my fellow Canucks. It's about mutual respect. Dunno why we hate each other so much lately...
