Most underrated qb ever. I'm a Pat's fan but respected this guy. Everyone gave him crap cause he fumbled or couldn't win the big games but it's a team sport. His o-line was awful leading to most of his fumbles and he never had the players around him to be great. He finished his career as the most accurate passer at the time. Die hard Dallas fan here. You are so so so correct. To do what he did with what he had to work with for most of his career is incredible. People focus on his early mistakes in his career and they keep that stigma attached to him. And no matter how well he played or how many 4th quarter comebacks he led, or how many times he made something out of nothing, he never outran that stigma or got credit for just how masterful he was at his craft. Nobody talks about his toughness either. The injuries he played through would put most people on bed rest probably. The lower back injury he played through I can only imagine the pain. Romo was never gonna get close to a super bowl and his gunslinging mentality got his career cut short. His best chance was 2007. He said it himself. Also, Packers probably woulda came back down the field and scored if Dez woulda caught it 2014. So the heartbreak woulda been the defense not stopping Rodgers like they didn’t 2016. But we coulda got a stop 2014 and they kept matching and got the final first down with ease. @@kohmsl8310 So, I remember when Dak took over and if you've ever caught balls from multiple QB's you'll know what I'm talking about here. The velocity at which the ball is thrown matters. Dak is a great QB but when he first came into the league, Dez went from catching perfectly slotted touch passes to bullets over the middle. It's super hard to adjust to that. If he'd stayed healthy, I believe he would've adapted but when a guys biggest strengths are 50 balls and his physicality and the 50/50 balls were more like 70/30 balls with Romo's ability to place it vs what Dak had at the end of Dez's career being bullets almost every time. I'm entirely up to the idea of being wrong here but that seems like an incredibly difficult adjustment later in your career.

Patrick Crayton was solid too. Romo spread the ball around throughout his whole career. That’s why T.O. wanted the ball more lol, but when it comes to players like T.O., they hinder the dynamic of the offense by pressuring to get the ball more. You see the same thing with OBJ, DK Metcalf It only works for Davante Adams since they have receivers that are specialists, Valdez-Scantling is a tall deep threat, Lazard is a physical receiver, and Cobb is an aging possession receiver. They have established roles so it works Other than that, elite QBs spread the ball, and Romo certainly did that. He played with such poise, it was up there with Brady. Romo was SO much fun to watch. Knowing he was out there just having fun. Never took it too seriously. So many seasons, the Cowboys should've been a 4-12 but finished 8-8 or better BECAUSE OF TONY ROMO.

Just thinking, if Romo was still playing, with this 2021-2022 defense... might be looking at a 15-2 or even a possible undefeated season. Romo would have played his heart out.

Exactly. Romo would have this current offense running like a well oiled machine..I believe this current team is struggle bc of the oline but bc Dak is not an elite passer. Dak is an awesome football player but this offense NEEDS an elite passer that can go down field

What a great center
@thecensoredmuscle5633 жыл бұрын
The first center Romo ever had that knew how to block and didn't hike it over his head or before he said hike. From 06-12 it was constant, I've never seen anything like it in nfl history. Jones literally kept giving Romo centers that had a pop Warner level of talent at hiking it from shotgun.

It’s no coincidence that Zekes avg per run dropped after we lost Travis. Him Martin and smith gave him 3 from the jump. Now he works for the three and is lucky to break for more.
@NickErrrr3 жыл бұрын
@@thecensoredmuscle563 Gurode was a 5x Pro Bowler before Frederick got there lmfao
@thecensoredmuscle5633 жыл бұрын
@@NickErrrr how does that change the fact that he constantly chunked it over Romo's head or on the wrong count constantly? Notice how the interior lineman like Gurode and Leonard played for years making 0 pro bowls, then when playing with Romo both start making pro bowl several years in a row. That's not a coincidence, they didn't suddenly upgrade after years of below average play. Its that Romo made them look alot better, because Romo had an insane ability to break tackles and spin out. So statistically it looked like they were doing a great job. But they really weren't. Fredrick actually was great, Fredrick did not need Romo to make him look better. Then with Martin in 2014 was enough to change the entire oline. Because Romo finally had at least 2 interior lineman that could block. Made a huge difference.

This guy's toughness should never be questioned. I remember watching many games where he had serious injuries, plural, and was out there giving 100% definitely deserved a chip. That call on Dez at Green Bay was a catch, even at the 1, first and goal if he didn't get in end zone. I watched that play over and over he absolutely caught that ball n tried to reach the goal line, he just couldn't reach it. Anybody notice that catch and reach TD against the 49ers? Look familiar to an incomplete pass at GB?✌️💙

Romo got robbed in 2014 of his best shot at making a Superbowl by the officials with the Dez catch the officials said wasnt, the NFL later admitted was a catch. They owned Seattle and would have beaten them in the Champ game and would have made the SB. He was elite.
@ThisIsCottonMouth3 жыл бұрын
Dez was a different man back then, physical and had speed with the ball in his hands
@thecensoredmuscle5633 жыл бұрын
Dez was playmaker that worked on big plays and throws when covered, Romo put it where he can out physical the guy. Terrence Williams was a deep threat, big play guy. Prescott ruined both of their careers, because he doesn't have nfl level passing ability to get it to those kinds of receivers.

5:03 is a prime example of how they did Tony Romo. I remember watching him and always getting mad at blatant roughing the passer and no flag. But on the other side you had brady and rodgers that if someone accidentally breathed on them wrong the flags came flying.
@johnortan18902 жыл бұрын
Like always, the nfl hated Romo, they let him get late hit nonstop. I remember it happening. But since making these highlight videos and watching so many games, it happened an insane amount pretty much every game. You didn't see that with other qbs. Defenses do what the refs let them do, certain qbs they know the refs will let them hit so they hit.
