Actually even with the death note most of the time it was shown how much he values his father. Not to mention Soichiors death when he showed his true emotions. Light was one of the brightest students in Japan, he vauled his family, on multiple occasions said that he is proud to be his father son and Tbh he was a son every father would want. The power of death note changed Light for the worst and his sense of justice became cruel and inhuman. While that isn’t confirmed as canon since Ohba forgot the formula he came up with to calculate that, I do agree that this is the closest we’re probably ever gonna get. With that in mind, Light and L were the only two he ever used that formula with before forgetting it, so the other lifespans in the series are completely random and mean nothing. As evidenced by the fact that Near’s lifespan would have had him day within days after that warehouse meeting, but he’s still alive in the final chapter of the manga, a whole year after. And yet still alive ten years after that.

I calculated Misa's lifespan and it seems, after she used shinigami deal for the eyes, her lifespan turned only till 30 then she later on again uses and the lifespan is 15 now. I believe it's canon that if a shinigami loves a human enough to extend their lifespan beyond their destined time of death, the shinigami dies instead, and their remaining lifespan is added to the human's.

But the ending of DN is disappointing light should've won, but the author wanted to give a good message to the world, but failed as many of the fans are really into this thing.
