What a scene in Chicago last night! On the night Chris Chelios got his #7 up in the rafters, he rolled into the ceremony with his Cadillac by the way, what a G! There were legends like Wayne Gretzky all over the place but as if that wasn’t enough, it was also the night one of if not the best Blackhawks made his return to the United Center in Patrick Kane. They welcomed him with one of the longest standing O’s you’ll see, it really was something else. Even Chicago born Cindy Crawford made a centre ice shot like it was nothing and the new golden boy Connor Bedard laid a hit on Kane. Im telling you, the story lines were everywhere. It couldn't have been better for Chicago...well then again, maybe it could have. BUT they don’t call him the heartbreaker for no reason! Sit back and enjoy as I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

If they can ever arrange for Chicago to join us in the Eastern Conference, that would be awesome. But in any discussion about expansion, relocation, or realignment, I am not willing to accept anything that sends Detroit back to the west. Chicago fans might stay up a bit later than usual for road games on the west coast, but it isn't nearly as bad because Chicago is in the central time zone. We see the same time difference in Detroit, when the Red Wings are playing in the mountain time zone. The three hour difference between the eastern and western time zones is much worse! Imagine many games, including key playoff games, *starting* at 10:30 at night, when you have to go to work the next morning. That was our reality for many years, until we were finally realigned into the Eastern Conference. Now we have just two regular season road trips per year, one to California and one to Western Canada, that lead to start times at or after 10:00 Eastern Time. The rest of the season, including playoffs, is played at reasonable hours. That was a long-sought change, and we will not be giving it up without a real fight.

@@gripnsip3000It's only the f*cking haters that I can't stand. There's NEVER a reason to actually hate a team or player yet it happens all the time with "fans". Rivalry is one thing but hate? How can someone hate a player simply because he plays for a certain team? I'll never understand the stupidity of many new generation hockey "fans"
@RedWing88
@RedWing88 2 ай бұрын
@@jeffreycairns767Yeah, I agree. In the 90’s and early 2000’s Detroit and Colorado had a very intense rivalry. I was a teenager then, and Colorado would drive me crazy. But I never hated the team. I didn’t like a couple of their players. But I respected Joe Sakic. I loved the rivalry. Occasionally I still check out the highlights. Especially that 2001-02 7 game playoff series. In game 7 the Wings chased Roy out of the game. They won 7-0. I couldn’t believe it.
@jeffreycairns767
@jeffreycairns767 2 ай бұрын
@RedWing88 I wasn't directing my comment towards any specific person. It was just pointing out what this newer generation thinks it means to be a fan. All it does is make them haters. Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton, NYR, Boston, etc., these are just a few of the examples of teams that, despite having a massive fan following, have alot of haters. When "fans" care more about "YOUR" team failing then they do about "MY" team winning, it's a sad and pathetic factoid. For example, say I'm a Canadiens fan. It's Toronto vs TB. Montreal doesn't make the playoffs but instead of just enjoying the series, I'm going to cheer against the Leafs simply because I HATE them. I have no clue why I hate them but apparently that's what it means to be a fan so I HATE them. Then, win or lose, I'm going to go online and look up every possible Leafs video I can find and insult the team, players and fans, EVERYTIME I possibly can. That IA the new style of fan these days and it happens with many different teams. I enjoy talking NHL with other true fans regardless of what team we cheer for. I yet to have a conversation with anybody on any social media site with other fans and discuss a game without some clown "fan" joining in just to throw insults, including using many, many different accounts to do so on the same comment. It's very unfortunate that there seems to be less and less real fans left anymore. Teasing in good fun is not what I mean by insults. Look up, Montreal, Toronto or Edmonton, just as examples, and you'll see what I mean, especially after a loss.

It was a perfect setting for a game. Chelios number retired and he tells Kane not to steal his thunder, Kane first time back in Chicago, Kane is playing for Chicago's oldest rival, he gets a great tribute video with the longest ovation ever, and he ends it by scoring the OT winner with the Chicago fans cheering for him after beating their team. You don't see games with this kinda story around it very often with that kind of perfect ending and it was very fun to watch. It's still crazy seeing him in a Red Wings jersey after so many years cheering against him when he played against my Red Wings but it sure is nice that Showtime's on our side for a change.

For all of you salty Hawks fans, Kane was heading towards the bench, stopped when he saw the play, and floated back out to center. It's not like he was standing there waiting for the pass that Cat BARELY made. Also, many of you seem to think Bedard was just standing in front of a gaping net. The Detroit player (can't recall who) had him covered. Maybe you needed to have different personnel out there in OT to help feed Bedard better. Furthermore, you can thank the refs for that weak assed slashing call on Raymond that really should have been ignored that lead to the Hawks PPG. The Hawks played a hell of a game against a tired Detroit team that has more comeback wins than any other team in the NHL. The Wings were out hustled, and frankly, outplayed for most of the game. Mrazek stood tall in net. If it wasn't for DeBrincat's crazy goal the Hawks deservedly win that game. Be proud that your team competed, even though they lost, unlike the Blues who got embarrassed on Saturday.

that play at 1:16 could have prob been called by the refs, it was in the crease and there were gloves all over it.

The only glove that covered the puck was Reimer's trapper. Get over it.

@@the.wayne.bI saw the replay, except my eyes weren't looking through Homer goggles. I honestly looked for gloves on the puck but did not see what you saw. Agree to disagree.

I would accept a trade involving Kane for Elias Pettersson.

Gotta love chicago. We will respect our former stars, but as soon as its game time its back to "detroit sucks"

You seriously couldn't pick a different night to hoist Chelios' number? Guys an icon in the league and in Chicago but gets overshadowed by Kane in what shoulda been his moment alone.
