I don't think this should be about one being a close friend or not. We're working in the interest of the entire nation and so personal interests must be put aside and focus on the real issues that matter. Hon. ATO asking Hon.Bryan to convince him doesn't mean he's not a true friend but he's representing Ghanaians on that committee and so he's not all by himself. He's working in the interest of the nation. So he may know him very well, but the responses are meant for the members of general public (Ghanaians) to make informed decisions about the responses of the nominee to ascertain whether they best suit the role or not. This isn't anything personal that should be based on emotions than logic. People on that vetting committee ask questions not for themselves, but for Ghanaians. So whoever asks a nominee a question, asks on behalf of the generality of Ghanaians and responses should be addressed as though they're answering Ghanaians whose taxes will be used in paying them and not just the personalities before them.

He's a representative of the Ghanaian populace and so whatever he asks is done on behalf of the generality of Ghanaians and so when someone tells you to convince me that you can hold a role as this. What you need to do is to prove to Ghanaians why you think we must recommend that we approve your nomination. Not all members of the committee are close to Hon.Bryan. Probably Hon.Ato Forson is quite close to him more than the other members but Ato doesn't have all the voting rights. Others do have it as well. So that question being answered honestly would induce even an NDC member who is most likely to vote on partisan lines to reconsider and vote based on the candid respones provided. We're not there to show people how close we are. If it was left to that, the parliamentary scrutiny won't even be necessary Because ministerial nominees have friend(s) on the committee and so if anyone would want to go on that tangent, there would be no need for parliamentary scrutiny going forward. We must just approve anyone because he or she has a friend on the committee. Moreover, Hon Ato told Hon.Bryan, we are here for the people of Ghana and so these questions must be asked. So in actually sense, he did Hon.Bryan a lot of good by giving him the opportunity to show how Competent he'd be on the job if approved.
