As usual - just gorgeous! Regarding the cochineal bug being the source of red, I believe the Spanish discovered it when they saw the huge Mexican pyramids that were painted with the insect! This stuff has to be gathered one by one from the cactus - can you imagine the amount that was needed to paint the enormous pyramid of the sun near Mexico City?!! Red was of course a highly desirable color for fabrics in Europe. The country that I am from - Brazil, is named after the very red wood of the indigenous tree by the same name. There were big forests of it in northeastern Brasil, which were taken to Europe to be transformed into fabric dye!

Thanks for another great video Froyle. You had me talking to my phone when you asked what you should do!🤣 FYI, I got the red paper while on a textile trip to India. We visited a papermaking factory in Jaipur. The conditions were quite primitive to say the least and the workers were covered in pigment. Seeing these beautiful papers being produced really makes me appreciate beautiful handmade supplies. We are very lucky.

LOVE the colours! Beautiful. How do you keep the pages from sticking to each other? I find when I use acrylic in a journal, they start to stick to each other once the book is stored.

Yeah, it had to be red, isn't it? Lol. Not my colour, but still, your collages really are glorious. Unfortunately we don't get Citrasolve in Germany 😭. Such a shame, I love the effect! So far nobody has come up with an alternative, right? I wonder which Chemical it is in Citrasolve that does the trick. I want to find a replacement, lol.

I use an art journal to make my collages because then I have a beautiful collection, like an art book. I don't have paintings hanging around the studio or need to sell or exhibit. I have spent many years doing all that! It's so much fun! Thanks for watching, Cheers Froyle

Curious.. why pay for handmade paper and then cover it up with a painted scrap? I was cringing ...can't it be cut so you save the expensive paper? I don't care if I paint over or cover something I painted but wasting paper that cost a lot...seems... like environmental waste...
