Are used to consider role-play really stupid something that literally only nerds did, I thought it was goofy and silly or that people only wanted to get their rocks off with ERP But then again, back when I played only FPS...I said the same thing about wow...and every RPer I met at when I was convinced to give it a try was some of the coolest people I knew. I loved the lore and I HAD always made stories for my characters in my head. It wasn't until I bit the bullet and have it a try that I found how enjoyable it was, the depth it gives to characters and the amazing stories that other players can create, I can't emphasize enough how you hit the nail on the head with this video, I really encourage a lot of others to try it out, it isn't for everyone but I never regret it, it's become a huge aspect of WoW for me, and I only wish I would have gotten into it sooner then I had

Well I hoped more people had a mind like you , In my RP server EU sodapoppin and armsgold will come and make a lvl70 guild , last time sodapoppin did that was in a RP US server and they start bulling and make fun of RPers while streaming. I hope Blizzard don't turn away from the RP community and help us out

I looooove it!! totally love it! I'm from Mexico and is kinda dificult to find role players in my region so i do in the American realms, and for my experience; Roleplay make you feel wow diferent! I usually play as an Archmage from Gilneas, a Witch Doctor from Dazar'Alor and a ex pirate from Tirisgarde Sound who has joined in to the Kul'tiran Navy.

Rp’ed since WoTL and never looked back. Rp made the game so much more then just kill this and kill that. I love when my guild and I have a meeting on the mission at hand and how we should handle it. Should we go all out and attack or try to sneak in. Or just a night at the bar having fun.

I loved rping when I was with a Tauren guild known as the Stormsong it seemed like a really unique tight knit group until it was disbanded but now the only guilds I can find are Mercenary, Cult, and PvP guilds and not many just simple Clan guilds trying to have a good time, maybe that's just me though

This is a really solid video. I've played Rogue since Vanilla yet some how, I've never tried RP. I just played my first game of DnD 2 weeks ago and I feel like I've missed out on so much! I do feel like I'm missing something though. DnD is all about story and your choices and WoW doesn't care about your choices. I don't know how to fit story into WoW outside of the same boring story they have been crafting us all for years and years. Any good starting off tips or pointers? Anyone play Emerald Dream and want to bring a fellow nerd in?

I have a question, are there any people/guilds on the RP servers that roleplay how it's meant to roleplay in WoW (Following the lore, going on adventures, trying to support your faction and actually act as a character from the WoW universe, because after all it's an adventure game..) I'm actually looking forward buying the game, because I love to roleplay and I love WoW (I played only on private servers tho) but I don't want to spend 90 bucks only to face trolling RPers and people that want to have sex in the goldshire tavern.

Hey Aura I have a lore question I haven't been able to find it anywhere. I RP as the leader of the Alliance in Lordaeron (Highlord of Andorhal), mainly because I haven't found any lore charecter currently leading the Alliance there. Is there such a character doing so, I just want to know if my RP is lore friendly or not (Thalrassian wouldn't be leader of Lordaeron because he's working with the Ebon Blade, he has even went against the Alliance's wishes by raising Thoras Trollbane)

That Scarlet Crusade Guy my recommendation is to not RP as someone with super high significance to the lore like that because some people won't take you seriously, kinda like a guy who RPs like thralls long lost brother or something like that. What would be nicer is if you role play as someone who is a general/captain looking to conquer Lorderon and bring it back to your people. So you can make your character all about the quest of rallying people (other players) around the server, enlist in them for your cause, making favor for them to add them to your allegiance, and then one day do some sort of epic raid to Undercity and repel the scourge. Giving your character a challenge, an arc like that, especially knowing that with battle for Azeroth is right around the corner will give you an awesome RP event for you and your (soon to be) friends and also more legitimacy when you say "I was a champion of the alliance, raiding through Undercity in the besieging of Lorderon. An honored captain of the alliance" so on and so forth.

if you don't want to transfer any characters I'd highly recommend making an instant 100 free trial. If you don't do the brocken shore you can keep the trial forever, just don't do any leveling at all. It will let you get the RP experience for free. But if you do want to join on a main character, Moonguard not only has RP but it also has raiding guilds

I've been watching your videos here and there the past week, really enjoy the content! I'm finally getting back into WoW and while there's plenty of PvE content to enjoy, I'd really like to start participating in roleplaying and making new RP friends. I've done it for years in other formats, from table top to online fiction RP via email or insanejournal, but never quite grasped the appeal in a game like wow, where my perception was that it was a bunch of people sitting in a bar doing nothing but talking, lol. I want some degree of *structure* but what I also want is to figure out how to get my feet wet in the pastime. I'm really eager to find guilds/groups that are involved, friendly, and open to a MMO RP noob. Any suggestions or websites? (Alliance-Moon Guard/Horde-Wyrmrest Accord probably) I see that moon guard has an RP wiki but found that it's not really helping me figure out the process, and just walking into Stormwind without a plan or idea what I'm doing is intimidating a.f. I'm particularly fond of the idea of using PvE content as props/springboard for the RP itself. Downloaded and installed Total RP Extended too, though still trying to figure it out. Been leveling a new mage currently sitting at lvl 76, and still need to buy Legion but waiting for it to go on sale again before I do. Sorry for the tl;dr! I'll keep scouring your other vids for further tips.

You just put all my thoughts on RP in perfect words and yes, Its so true, people are missing out. Just like you miss out when you only play one faction, or one class. Or only have very few characters with no personality or story. The game has so many facettes, so much lore. Using it to play pvp and then switch to other games saying wow is shit.... of course its boring if you only see a small part of it. It's a world.

I know this was 9 months ago, but here's my suggestion: Avoid the cesspool of Stormwind gossip on Moon Guard. Roleplaying in the city can be fun as long as you don't fall in with certain groups: Military/Guard guilds are usually a good one to avoid. I would just say stay the fuck out of Stormwind when on Moon Guard, and maybe like... move over to Wyrmrest Accord or something, cause lord have mercy, some of the RPers I've met in the time I had spent roleplaying (~2 years) were nightmare people out of character. Other more engrained individuals in the roleplaying community are so delusional they actually believe they have real power over things and I guess maybe it's true because some people will avoid others by word of what those "higher-ups" pass down. The whole thing is a big basket of rattlesnakes you don't want to put your hand into. Do what you like, play how you like, be who you want to be. Don't let them get you down with the whole "I am superior over you and your lore is fucking wrong." thing because if you really want to have fun, not giving a shit about what others say in regards to how you play your character is the biggest hurdle out of all. People are going to talk about your character, put it down, call it wrong, and that'll get passed around and more people will avoid you *without even knowing how your character actually is*, just because of the stupid "Telephone" game they play with the community. I've seen people avoid someone because of their character and say stupid shit like "This person plays a teenager, they must be a pedophile" or "They play a murderer, so they must be one IRL." It's called DON'T MIX IC WITH OOC. In Character =/= Out of Character.

Honestly you don't need to know a ton of lore to rp, it's amazingly helpful if you do, but if you just used one of Aura's guides you could easily pick up the basics and learn as you go

Honest to fel... MORE LIKE HONEST TO THE HOLY LIGHT BROTHER... but I found rp bit boring tbh, more of a side thing which I do when not lvl alts and done with the content, also everyone is a nerd in something, sport nerds, fantasy nerds, even sleep nerds I guess
