Hey, this works for writing too. I like to write short stories, but not all of them fit my current tone or headspace. So rather than trashing them, I put them away to come back to later. Maybe I only take a few elements, or maybe I rewrite the whole thing from scratch. Your bad ideas aren't bad ideas, they're either just underdeveloped or not right for the current moment. This, I assume, would be true for any form of art.

I use the master pitch shift more than I'd like to admit. Often I pitch it up and realized it sounds better a couple keys up and go through every pattern and relocate everything up then set the master pitch back to default. It's like looking at a drawing mirrored. Lets you look at it from a new angle and see (hear) the flaws.
