I still remember this great Ad. Qantas should put an Australian retro colour scheme on one of their 737’s.

my only experience with them.... We went down the runway only to have an announcement that we have to go back because there was not enough fuel.

it would have been due to a late amendment, advised by ATC to the weather at the destination-either an alternate needed or 30/60 minutes holding due weather.

They did.
@franzchong58892 жыл бұрын
@@UNKNOWN_NICKEL but not one of these.prior to the 737-800 this scheme was the one we all remembered on all 86-93 delivered 733's and 734's.they were a few of the 734's that were delivered in the 84-07 colors from memory but this is the one before the merger all of us remembered.I hate the retro roo's with a passion.

Hey thestig Australian Airlines ( TAA ) Never flew 767s or on International routes
@thestig74713 жыл бұрын
I remember when I was flying QANTAS to auckland just after the merge and it was an Australian Airways 767 in the Australian airways livery, the only difference is that the interior had been changed, but that was some time ago.
@beagle76223 жыл бұрын
I don’t want to be picky but wouldn’t that have been an A300 Airbus. AaAustralian Airlines had 5 that were later painted in Qantas colours.
@timborabbit13 жыл бұрын
The "Australian Airlines" that operated to Osaka etc was not the same entity as depicted in this add... rather a Qantas relaunch of the name with discount fares aimed at the Asian market (the aircraft, which were Boeing 767s) were painted in Aboriginal Art designs. Subsequently Qantas launched Jetstar and eventually they filled this niche in the market. Australian Airlines (pre 1993) only operated Airbus A300s and 737-300/400s in the livery depicted in this add.

@cannoir your point is?
@BaronBoy10014 жыл бұрын
@SouthAfricanAirways1 Totally wrong. Australian Airlines was originally called Trans Australia Airlines or TAA for short. It was rebranded as a marketing exercise. Eventually, Australian Airlines (which was government owned) was merged with the then other government owned airline, QANTAS. The company bought by Air New Zealand (with Singapore Airlines holding stock) was ANSETT.

@jason090874 acutally Australian Airlines operated to from QLD to tokyo or osaka from 2000 and ceased operation in favour of jestar in 2004. They operated the767. Qantas transferred the 767 from their fleet because australian airlines was a wholly subsidary of qantas

Isn't Qantas the main airlines of australia
@ansett76878 жыл бұрын
Yes. In the beginning Qantas was only international and served no domestic routes. There were 2 major airlines Ansett and Qantas for domestic. Ansett being privately owned and TAA , which after deregulation in the early 90's changed its name to Australian after de regulation of the two domestic airline policy enforced by the government. The government a few years after deregulation decided to sell Australian (Qantas had recently been sold a few years earlier and became a privately owned airline). Qantas then bought Australian and merged the two and simply became Qantas. Ansett went under in the early 2000's and Virgin is now the other major airline in Australia..
@murphydoesgaming8 жыл бұрын
+Ansett76 but I thought Qantas is the main airline of Australia.
@murphydoesgaming8 жыл бұрын

Qantas is the largest airline in Australia and it is generally considered to be the flag carrier of Australia. Virgin Australia is the second largest airline in Australia.
@rod0508587 жыл бұрын
The 2 best airlines in Australia were TAA/Australian and Ansett ANA. Virgin, Jet Star and Tiger only came in when the Australian government in 1990 told Qantas to take over Australian airline and when Ansett went under due to Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines and Sir Peter Abeles sent in down the Tube. Qantas have no idea how to run an airline. Taa/Australian and Ansett used to employ every year over 60 apprentices now there are none. I HATE QANTAS
