I don't wash my hair in sections, just takes more time trying to put my hair into sectons. I also don't wash my hair in twist, makes it harder to get to my scalp. I don't worry about tangling, I'll just detangle while applying my deep conditioner.

YYYAASSS FINALLY nice to see someone that knows the real deal. I'm a 4c chic, with thick, thigh length hair. I've NEVER even considered sections. If I went to my beautician, and she began to section my hair off before shampooing. I would sit up immediately like WHAT'S going on??? The issue is that folks need to train their 4c hair. Once that's done, you'd never think twice about wasting time with sections.

I think the longer my hair is, the more important it is to use sections, to prevent tangles....for me. I wash my hair in two sections. Then end up dividing it into about four sections, while applying my deep conditioner, and while rinsing, combine it back into two sections. This has made it so easier for me to detangle ( since I primarily finger detangle now for the past two years). Years back when I didn't know how to care for my hair, I used to shampoo and condition, without sections, and detangle afterwards, and boy, let me tell u how much hair I lost, what a sore head I had afterwards, and how much I hated wash day ( which is probably why I only did it once a month😑)...now I wash weekly. Plus my hair has flourished so much. I think its easier for stylist to detangle after shampooing/ conditioning, because their standing and most of them are not going to finger detangle anyway, cause it takes more time....but in doing my hair myself, I appreciate MY hair more, and am willing to go that extra step, and give my hair that extra time... And using sections has helped my hair so, so, so much...but at the end of the day, do whatever works for u😊 . Love the earrings!

Exactly dear, people are trying to make things that we need to dedicate time for " easy" ... It's crazy . I also wash my hair in section , special when I deep conditioner... But as you said, at the end people need to know their hair needs, somethings don't work for everyone.😊

I don’t wash in sections. For me, it’s not necessary and I really don’t loose a lot of hair. I’ve tried sections and it takes more time and the hair loss is the same as if I do it all at once so it’s a no brainer. I don’t condition in sections either. As am detangling, if I feel that there are sections that require more attention, I take the time there. My last wash and go, I didn’t apply my product in sections and the result was better than with sections. I sat under a hooded dryer and my hair seem to hang better. Just me but I won’t take the time to section unless my hair stops responding well. It’s all abt what works for you and your hair!

I pre-poo in sections so I wash in those sections. My hair is spider tangle prone so even when I was relaxed they'd wash my hair in sections. But recently I've also been for a silk press where they don't. Since I don't have a shower wand I can't control where the water hits without shifting around in the shower and the sections help me from pre-poo, shampoo, deep conditione, rinse out to style. If my hair has been in braids like with added hair oh I *have to, have to* detangle that mess first I can't just let water touch it unless I want hair to rip out and take new growth with it. So sectioning is embedded into my hair routine. And the longer my hair gets, I have to be even more diligent. But I see how yours works for you!
@morganmorgym6 жыл бұрын
I don't wash my hair in sections either. I save hours by NOT washing my hair in sections, and I literally save my hair as well. Washing your hair in sections focuses on not just working product into your hair, but detangling as well, and I believe there's such a thing as 'over-detangling'. Too much tension on my hair causes it to split and break, so I only detangle once when I'm out of the shower and ready to style.

Personal preference. I wash my hair in sections because it’s easier for me. I prepoo, wash, condition and style all in the same sections. It works for me. I have a lot of thick type 4 hair and not using sections causes me to use wayyyyyy more products than when I keep my hair sectioned. That’s me. I know how I like to do my hair. Less breakage and knots for me since i started washing in twisted sections, i don’t unravel them during the shampoo process because i shampoo my scalp. I only unravel when its time to apply conditioner/deep conditioner and twist back, i rinse the twists and u ravel again when it’s time for leave in. Cuts down my wash day in half. I have that type of hair where i cannot do anything (style, detangle, braid) to it when its wet it coils up easily and tangles so sections for me.

I wash in sections but also I don't when I'm in a rush. But it has taken me awhile to get comfortable with not having to use sections to wash my hair, before, when my hair was a lot shorter, I don't think I knew exactly what I was doing and would cause unwanted tangles, so I just always did my hair in 4 sections. Now since I pretty much know my hair very well, washing in sections is not necessary anymore, but when it comes to conditioning, I definitely like to put my hair in sections so my hair doesn't shrink anymore. Thanks for this video !!! I love you hair

I don't always. But I only wash in sections when I pre-tangle. It saves time and i never need to detangle again during DC or styling.
@PackofDiscos6 жыл бұрын
I usually detangle with oil before washing, so my hair is already sectioned (loose at the roots). I also dilute shampoo if it is liquid and use an applicator bottle, so don't use much at all. The strength of my shrinkage is too strong and my hair will tangle when loose whether wet, dry, moisturised, trimmed yesterday, raggedy, recently stretched, whatever! Let go, and the strands are hugging each other within 3-30 seconds and it's worse when wet.
@Eveningbreeze7216 жыл бұрын
I usually wash in sections but my last two washes I did not. My hair was much more tangled these last two times. But as you say, everyone find what works for you!

I’ve tried it all washing in sections, twists and loose and currently washing it when it’s loose, sections worked but took WAY too long and twists kept tangling my hair up at the roots . I’ve only just started washing it loose and it’s working for me so far but I think one of the things that help is that my shampoo is quite moisturizing and I can run my fingers through my hair with it in so detangling after isn’t hell. Also I detangle thoroughly when I pre poo it makes it soooo much easier! P.S I have 4C hair.

I wash in sections! I see your point on overusing products but shampoo last for ever anyway so I don't mind using more of it lol. I agree everyone is different. You don't have to worry about breakage along the parts while washing your hair since you don't section so thats another plus.

I find that with certain products people can get away with not doing sections. It depends on the products you are using so what are you using sis? Edit: Also I find that the more hair you have and the tighter and thicker the texture is the harder it is to get to the scalp. When I use to have short-medium hair that water was runnin' straight on my scalp and I didn't have to use sections. now I can barely feel it or not at all.

I’ve been natural my entire life but only started washing in sections 8 years ago. I live it. Before I used to hate wash days. Just looking at the amount off hair on my head used to give me a headache. Now I find it so easy. Even when my hair is super tangled. I don’t like going to the hairdresser for that reason actually. The last time I went I already had my deep conditioner on and my hair was in section. She just needed to rinse it out and blow dry my hair. Off cause she rinsed it out putting all my hair together. Then put me on a chair waiting with my hair out for 10 minutes, after drying it with a towel . When she came to touch my hair it was so tangled that she had to detangled it first. It was dry and I lost a good amount off hair. I never loose all that much hair when I do it myself. Even when I decide not to blow dry my hair the same day. I just find that section works better for me. I do use more shampoo I think, but that’s ok for me.

My version of washing in sections is to put my hair in 6-10 twists prior to the wash and keeping those twists in through the entire wash day process. So I wash/deep condition/ with them in and only take them down to detangle and style. I have 4b/c coils and for me this has helped me retain roughly 18in in length and minimizes tangles throughout the washing process, I use a good amount of shampoo but I think I use waaaayyy less deep conditioner then I would if my hair was loose. I always marvel at type 4 folks that can wash their hair loose though, its amazing to me lol

Now that my hair is longer, I wash in sections. It's way easier. I do understand why you don't, and yes it is true one would use more product since it is in sections (applying product to each). I think I want to try not washing my hair in sections. However, modify it to where I keep the sections, but I don't untwist my hair. Shampoo/Condish/DC as if my hair is not in sections. Not only do I have to wash my hair in sections, but tiny sections. My hair is cobweb tangles, i'm tender headed and prone to excess shedding. I have very dense hair with fine strands. What I do is detangle my hair first using conditioner and olive oil in tiny sections, put a plastic cap on for one hour then wash my hair in those small sections. Then use conditioner then deep conditioner. Almost zero shedding and tremendous hair growth.

I used to wash my hair in sections with clips. So the hair was loose but sectioned off. This took a lot of time because I would have to remove the clips section by section to wash my hair. Now I wash my hair in twists, which is technically sections in a way, but I can do it all at once. I don't need to do each twist individually. I just apply the shampoo to my entire scalp. Massage my scalp to lift the dirt and then use the rest on my lengths and ends and rinse out. This was a game changer for me. I do use more shampoo this way though. I used wayyyy less when I was doing my hair in sections.

@anisemeena83636 жыл бұрын
I respect everyone's differences and learning about one's hair needs and preferences. For me, not washing or moisturizing my hair in sections was a big mistake on my part. That is because the driest and kinkiest section of my hair is in the crown and I was unintentionally not putting enough products in that section. I experienced a LOT of breakage in this area and couldn't realize why. It's because I was focusing most of the product in the front of my hair and the back, but not separating enough to evenly distribute product in my hair in the crown. Since I have been using sections I have received a lot less breakage, cut off the damage, and that area is starting to retain length. The rest of my hair is long but that section is at least 4 inches shorter than the rest of my hair. Also, I'm not sure if it is my hair texture but my hair tangles ridiculously if I don't wash my hair in sections. I also struggle with product build up and use a shampoo scalp brush everytime I shampoo because shampooing and massaging with fingers still leaves me with product build up. Putting my hair in sections of loose braids when I shampoo helps with the tangling and allows me to focus on getting the product build up off my scalp. I do my best to not get product on my scalp however it still manages to get on my scalp haha. Like you said, everyone's hair needs are different and one method may not work for everyone else. I've had to learn what's best for my hair and my hair needs. Now I shampoo and deep condition twice a week and my hair is flourishing. Love you and your videos!!

I could not wash my hair without sections but I understand everyone has their preference. I always wash my hair in 13 sections lol. I always style my hair in medium sized twist and those sections are basically 2-3 of those twists combined. I have type4 hair, 4a/b, and I finger detangle exclusively. The sections makes it easier to detangle, keep them detangled and make it easier to style back into my medium sized twists. My wash day takes about 4.5 hrs every 2 weeks which includes min of 1 hr deep conditioning and 2 hrs of twisting/styling.

You're the fist person that I've seen that has the same hair shape as I do! Even down to the part!

Love your vibe!!! I don’t think I can get with this no section thing. That’s another reason I shy away from hair dressers cause I think they might tangle my hair too much during washing and cause excess breakage. I would like to try the no section washing cuz it would save me SO much time if I mastered. But it overwhelms me to even think about it.

O and can we get a vid on this hairstyle!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Do you unravel each section to wash each section? If so, then yes, I could see how that would be time consuming and also cause more tangles if more tangling occurred. My hair is 4c too and I encountered that too, so I began washing in twisted sections without unraveling each twist or each section and found that speeds up wash day by cutting down on my time in the shower washing my hair. It also speeds up time spent on the hair after deep conditioning because the hair is already sectioned, you can go right into your LOC and air dry stretched (if you don't use heat) then detangle again once before styling (shouldn't be much to detangle if you detangle during prepoo or before shampooing while hair is in twisted sections). If you haven't tried washing your hair that way, try detangling beforehand then twisting the hair in sections and wash in sectioned twists without unraveling each section and see how that goes and if its easier and faster.

Thank you ma'am. I shampooed my hair today. I've never shampooed in sections

I wash my hair in the sink bc it's more convenient and I find that I don't use sections. I have type 4 hair and I make sure to finger detangle in a downward raking motion while the water elongates my strands. the only time I detangle is with my Felicia brush while styling

I love your hair!!! I tried washing in sections once or twice before, but it was not for me. Too much extra work😩

Were you unraveling each section to wash each section? If so, then yes, I could see how that would be time consuming and also cause more tangles if more tangling occurred. My hair is 4c and I encountered that too, so I began washing my hair in twisted sections as is, meaningwithout unraveling each twist or each section and found that speeds up wash day by cutting down on my time in the shower washing my hair. I feel as 4c hair gets to a certain length and due to the nature of our hair strands tangling onto each other, especially when wet, washing 4c hair in twisted sections can be extremely helpful in reducing tangles/knots and reducing the time it takes to wash the hair. If you haven't tried washing your hair that way, try detangling beforehand (while prepooing) then twisting the hair in sections (maybe twist loosely at the root so you'll have room to wash your scalp without the twists unraveling) and wash in sectioned twists without unravling each section and see how that goes and if its easier and faster for you versus the way you were washing.

I don't wash my hair in sections either. I used to when i was just starting out, but now I just don't feel like it's necessary for me. I'm also with you on the detangling with conditioner in part, I wait until I'm moisturizing and styling to detangle.

Hi Lexi, I found that sections work better for me. When I don’t do sections I feel I have more tangles/knots. It could be because of the motions, and not pulling in a downward stroke like you stated. I’m definitely open to trying your way. Who knows I might just shock myself and learn something from it and maybe even save myself some time. Like you said you have to find and do what works for you!! As always thanks for sharing!

Hair and skin is gorgeous!! I use to wash in 4s. I now just split in half. This just helps me manage bc I detangle during the prepoo process. Every now and then when I’m lazy I wash as a whole. I don’t know if I use less product though. I also hardly ever wear my hair in its fro state bc of the detangling I will have to do afterwards. How do you avoid this?

I usually do 4-6 sections but, now my hair is shorter so, I'm thinking about doing 2 sections too.

I dont wash in sections as my hair is short, I have only ever washed it as a whole and i have never had issues lol, tried to wash my hair in sections and it made my wash day more longer which is pointless for me and I prefer just not to lol.

@@KandidKinks Hiiii, I took your advice on figuring out hair porosity. I always thought I had low porosity because when I did the cup test, my hair floated. After watching this video, I looked at videos on tips for low hair porosity. I found that my hair didn't posess a lot of the properties of low porosity hair. I looked at another video on how to find out your hair porosity and I did the strand test. In case you don't know what it is, you take a strand of your hair and move your fingers upward. If the hair is smooth, it's low porosity, if the hair is rough and bumpy, it's high porosity. I still wasn't sure about the accuracy of the test and looked at some tips for high porosity hair and one person said that high porosity hair should always be sprayed with water and I did this a lot last year and my hair just soaked it up. I'm so glad I watched this video and reconsidered my hair porosity. I'll be looking up more tips for high hair porosity and applying those to my hair regimen. Thank you!!
