Troy the opposing team doesn’t want the ball to go in the end zone bc if it does, it’s called a touchback and they advance the ball to the 25 yard line and since they saved the ball, it now goes to the 1 yard line since that’s where they recovered it. That happens on a kickoff. If it’s a touchback on a punt, they advance the ball to the 20 yard line.

Troy, to explain the football ones in the beginning, when you punt the ball and it hits the end zone, the other team gets the ball at the 20 yard line. So teams try to keep the ball out of the end zone to try and pin the opposing team further back in their own territory. So by successfully “saving” the ball, they can take away 15-20 yards from the other team

In that football scene at 1:07, the punting team threw it out of the end zone. They did this to avoid the offense from completing a successful “touchback” and starting their drive at the 20 or 25 yard line. Instead the offense has to start where the ball is placed, right around the 5 yard line

Troydan, in football, on punts and kicks specifically, if the ball (or a player making contact with the ball) touches any part of the endzone or goes out the back, it is a touchback and the other team gets it at the 20 or 25. All the people jumping and leaning are to keep it at the 1 so the opponents are pinned to the enzone.

Also, on kickoffs specifically, you cannot kick it out of bounds or it is a penalty that gives the opponent the ball at the 40. That is why the players stepping out of bounds before touching the ball when it does not go into the endzone is a brilliant move

04:36 The Green Bay player fielding the kick took advantage of a rule. If the kickoff goes out of bounds the fielding team gets the ball at the 35 or 40 (I can't remember which atm). He purposely had one foot out of bounds as to technically make the kick be 'out of bounds' when it was in no danger of doing. This allows the Packers (Green Bay's Team) start on the 40 yard line instead of the 3 yard line thus gaining 32 or 37 yard of field position by using a loophole in the rules.
