We live longer than any generation of humans ever on this planet. In the past few decades we have lifted billions out of absolute horrible abject poverty. Over half the human population has access to clean water. The global literacy rate is about 87%. It was 12% in 1820. 62% of the global population has access to the internet. Fewer people today go hungry than ever before. And we are on the path to improve all those stats. Look around dude. Most of the humans that ever lived on this planet lived in dirt huts if they were lucky. Even the rich lived mostly in squalor. Louis XIV didn't even have toilets at Versailles. Most everyone ever died of easily preventable diseases, like dysentery. We have clean water and sewage treatment. Most of us live in a paradise dude. You certainly do. You're clearly literate. You have access to the internet, and almost certainly you have several computers. You are vaccinated against measles, and a whole host of horrible and preventable diseases. You without any doubt have easy access to clean water and food. You almost certainly live in a democracy, with freedom of speech. You aren't someone's serf. You're a free citizen.
