The only digestible way of consuming ableton content. I can't express how grateful I am. I was never able to watch more than a minute of a mixing tutorial, due to the lacklustre presentation on the expert's part, until I found your channel. Thank you for explaining everything in a simple and comprehensive way.

Why do I feel like I'm being spoken to as if I'm mentally retarted and yet am learning so much more Honestly I hated at first how he spoke kinda slow and pronounced (I always loved the sarcastic stuff so that didnt bother me) but I realized that its probably one of the reasons I'm learning so much

200-600 Hz is also very likely to mud up due to transients hitting at the same time at a almost same freq range, especially in faster genres like metal, jungle, dnb etc.

I've been producing electronic music for 20 years and never really had a problem with muddiness, I feel that because I always had more control over the individual elements, so I would treat removing muddiness as part of the sound design process, so it never really presented at mix down stage. However, I've recently started downloading freely available stems of acoustic and rock recordings just to practice my mixdown skills, and I have to say, your multiband compression approach to reigning in that 100hz range is an absolute god send. I tried it on this one mix where o had everything sounding great except for a bit of tubbiness bringing it down, I applied Some multiband compression to just that one band in 3 of the instruments and the whole thing opened up. Thank you man, proof that we never stop learning

@underbelly Thanks so much for your great vids. I just have a quick technical question: You said (I think in this vid) that because dB is a logarithmic scale, the perceived difference in loudness increases the more you reduce an EQ fader. However I just learned that the logarithmic dB scale actually is used to more accurately describe the way we percieve changes in sound intensity (non linear). I believe that you might still be right about increases subjective difference in loudness. it just can't be for the reason you stated. On the other hand, maybe I am wrong here... can anybody clarify? would really like to know☺️

Any relation to the guy that did the "You Suck At Photoshop" vidyas back in the day or did his style serve as inspiration? The sarcastic humor mixed with, interestingly enough, genuinely helpful techniques when it comes to mixing (or editing pictures in Photoshop as it were) is hauntingly reminiscent of that series minus the emotional distress and desperation that was soooo palpable in the PS "tips & tricks". Good shit man, very enjoyable :-)

@lessnightlights8535
@lessnightlights8535 5 жыл бұрын
I guess there isn't. EQ slices off boy's fingers or permanently elongates some of them, while Multiband Compression might just slightly bend them in places they sometimes unfavorably stick out, preserving an original form of the hand.
