I heard an operator describe a casino as a legal way to print money. A player comes in and for every $100 in play gets back $97; the casino has just "printed" $3. Multiply this by millions of people and dollars and it's a nice business.

GIven enough time, the house always wins. Every casino game is statistically rigged in favour of the house (with the exception of blackjack), and with enough games that statistical edge WILL be realised. It’s the law of large numbers, gamblers should look it up. Blackjack isn’t rigged, but casinos know that if you are doing too good at it, you’re card counting. And that’s not illegal - but if they know you’re doing it, you will be politely tapped on the shoulder, advised to collect your winnings and told to get out and never come back, ever.

In the end of the day, it's surprising how much the best way to win a lot of money is to do what those with a lot of money do. The irony is these men are having their lives gambled for a war on the otherside of the ocean that has mostly nothing to do with them, so by then you have nothing to lose except your stomach.
