@JJExtra you should walk to Shorne mead fort (google it) , it's an old derelict abandoned fort, its really cool. Really nice quiet and tranquil walk with things to see on the way such as army shooting ranges and a big police training ground with a fake town where they practice car chases etc. Takes about an hour to get there. Head right (facing the thames) at gravesend prom and follow the river until you get there. Be sure to stop at the ship and lobster pub on the way. Proper old British traditional boozer. You can even park your car at the ship and lobster and walk from there, would be quicker. It would make a good video. Loving the content guys, keep it up

Love the riverfront in Gravesend, can recommend the Three Daws pub overlooking the river, great Sunday roast. Next time you go try to have a look at the Sikh temple, haven’t seen the inside but it does look amazing from outside.

Gravesend I feel will become the next hotspot in the next few years, it’s close proximity to both London and the coast, excellent transport connections - just 20 minutes by train to Kings Cross, plus one train ride away from the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood, the DLR at Woolwich, and the 02 centre at Charlton, plus links to other hotspots in London such as Greenwich, Blackheath and Peckham all one train ride away, a fabulous Georgian quarter, it just needs cash and businesses to come in, it’s ripe for development, Gravesend has the best of being a gateway to London & the suburbs, the coastal resorts of Kent and being surrounded by Kentish countryside.

I was born in Gravesend ( a VERY long time ago) and live in The Philippines now, but I love it when I can get back to my old home town sometimes. Thanks for such a lovely video, of course there's always been an underbelly in the town, in fact I even wrote a small urban crime trilogy (The King of Gravesend) based in the town and on fictionalized versions of actual events. Super video guys thanks for doing that!!!!

Not too bad a place to live, Gravesend. Very handy for London (30 min on the High Speed line) also close to the North Kent Coast for days out. Shame a lot of the shops have closed due to competition from Bluewater and out-of-town megastores, but there are some decent pubs and fantastic curry houses. Also look over Windmill Hill, that's a lovely conservation area. Yes you get some trouble now and again, but name a town where you don't!
@JJExtra Жыл бұрын
Agreed! Everywhere has it’s good parts and it’s not so good parts, that’s the way the world is. We have not been to Windmill Hill so will have to check it out, thanks for the recommendation

Hi. I am embarrassed to say I have only been to Gravesend once in my life and then I drove the wrong way into a no thru road and a Policeman stopped me. By this time I had been driving round for over an hour looking for the place I was supposed to be so I rudely said just arrest me. Instead he kindly drove his car and told me to follow him and he took me to the address I had been looking for. But it looks a nice place and is deffo on my to visit list.

Great vid guys. I was born in Gravesend 1968 and grew up and lived there till I was shipped off to Uni in London. I now rezide in Cancun Mexico but have fond memories of Gravesend. It was always known as a "rough" town but that was mainly due to the "traverllers" (gypsies) that used to preside in the Dickens area. Feeling nostalgic.

I lived in nearby Northfleet for about 2 years as a child [1966-8; 8-10yo]. I remember the cafe where you bought your ice creams. Seem to remember there was a playground directly behind. I also remember a school trip to Tilbury Fort via the ferry you mentioned.
@lolabristow8395 Жыл бұрын
The good thing about the ferry is that with the ferry tickets you can use them on the coaches that take you to the train station which happened when I was going Southend
@keith8008 ай бұрын
Lovely video lads , always interesting things if you look for them , its a shame the ferry to Tilbury is being withdrawn at the end of March so grab a trip on it whilst you still can , the Three Daws pub is famous for its smuggler history.

Apparently the Gravesend/London Uber ran during May. But their website said more dates "coming soon". Cost with return was 20 pounds 50. They also have an "all day pass" for 26 pounds 50@. Would one want to go back and forth several times? Sorry, using U.S. English keyboard. No pound sign.
