Even tho my kids mother has a much better understanding now, and actually puts in alot more effort. I can say that this song has made things alot better, because when 2 people argue its hard to listen, but when she heard the song by herself there wasn't anything else to do but listen. Oh this hits hard for me! I lost my son from the age of 5 to 12. Nothing was ever done when she didn't show up to court and I'm driving 8 hours to show up every time. On top of that I'm fighting my wife because I'm spending so much money to be in my son's life when my wife says "you have a family here" telling me to walk away from him and spend my time and money on them. What kind of man would I be to walk away from my son? If i could walk away from him, i could walk away from my son and daughter from her. It always works out though. I FINALLY got custody of him when he was 12 after her house was raided by the police. It took years to repair the damage and the poison that had been fed into his mind about me. You know who was there everyday when he almost died in a car accident 3 days after graduating highschool? Me. You know who was there in rehab helping him learn to walk again? Me You know who has supported him in chasing his dreams? Me. You know who lives 90 minutes away and has seen him 3 times in 8 years? Her. Fuck these stupid ass selfish women that have zero idea how important a father is in a kids life. My son and I have a phenomenal relationship now. He's grown up to be a fine young man and I've been there everyday to help him go after his goals even with a setback that ruined scholarships. I'll never walk away from any of my kids even though their moms and I don't work well together, I'll never walk away. I'll never turn my back. Men are important. Fathers are important. Never forget that.

Wow. Many people talk about the importance of a 2 parent household. I have heard Denzel say it multiple times. I think the perspective and sometimes jokes are even made that the black man doesn't stay with the family. I am looking at this through a different lens on this one. As a mother of 2 who is not in a relationship I NEVER call myself a single mother. My boys have a great father who provides time and a comfortable life for OUR boys. Yes it wasn't always this easy but we made a conscious decision to never speak badly in front of them about each other. Certain language changing is a good start like single mother. That implies I'm raising them alone which is just not true. I've worked all my life during and after pregnancy but the last 18 months through illness I couldn't and here in Ireland child support is not mandatory so we would have been literally lost without him. As much as toward the end of our relationship we let's say didn't see eye to eye A LOT I will never speak badly of him. Our kids are blessed and that is the main thing IMO
