Reacting to Immortal Technique's "Dance with the "Devil was as traumatizing as it was Poetic.
"Dance with the Devil" is a critically acclaimed hip-hop song by the Peruvian-American rapper and political activist, Immortal Technique. Released in 2001, the song is widely considered to be one of the most haunting and thought-provoking tracks in the history of rap music.
The song tells the story of a young man named William, who grows up in the ghetto and dreams of becoming a successful drug dealer. William's ambition drives him to commit increasingly violent crimes, culminating in a tragic and disturbing act of rape and murder that leaves him traumatized and shattered.
Through its vivid and gut-wrenching lyrics, "Dance with the Devil" explores themes of poverty, violence, and the corrupting influence of power. Immortal Technique's powerful delivery and raw emotion add to the intensity of the song, making it an unforgettable listening experience.
Despite its controversial and disturbing subject matter, "Dance with the Devil" has become a classic among hip-hop fans and critics alike. Its unflinching portrayal of the harsh realities of life in the inner city has earned it a place in the pantheon of socially conscious rap music, and cemented Immortal Technique's reputation as one of the most important and provocative voices in the genre.

The most important line, as far as y’all were hinting to, is “his corruption had successfully changed his fate.” Another is “right there he knew what it is to empty and cold.” Is the old age ‘careful what you wish for’ theme that is symbolic to all of us even in different circumstances.

You're both too young to remember the sample used in that song. For us old folks, it's immediately recognizable as the theme from the 1970 blockbuster romantic tear-jerker movie, "Love Story". The sample is from the Henri Mancini Orchestra version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jne5knWdgM2Grrs

Shakur was born on June 16, 1971, in East Harlem, Upper Manhattan, New York City. While born Lesane Parish Crooks, at age one he was renamed Tupac Amaru Shakur. He was named after Túpac Amaru II, a descendant of the last Incan ruler, who was executed in Peru in 1781 after his failed revolt against Spanish rule.

He grew up in Harlem during the 80s and 90s during a time that was notoriously rough in New York City. Technique says because of the way he grew up, he harbored a lot of rage and eventually, that rage led him to prison. He was incarcerated for a year while he was in college, for assault-related offenses

Kind of late, but the change in keys was probably done on purpose to break your attention and think about the verses and words or grab your attention for the next words coming. This guy is very smart and does everything with a reason behind it. I grew up listening to this guy, this took place in the 90s a different time from now where this happened all the time. And it did happen but not him, he knew the guys and they all died so he made the song. I've been to his projects. Now it's wayyy different. But yea it was hilarious how your expressions changed when it got real. Lol
