I took my AppleTV 4k with me on vacation. For some reason, when I connected to the TV at my VRBO I had to login to my streaming services. You said you believe you can boot it up and the services are still logged in. Do you know why this would have happened? Curious if I can do something different next time for a better result. Thanks!

It’s likely app dependent. My guess would be that because you are logging in from an unrecognized IP address, and probably in a different state (or country) most apps log you out and require a password for security purposes.

Likely because the app detects new login location and is attempting to ensure you’re not sharing your subscription. This is especially true for Hulu Live TV which is tied to your “home” location.

Just use the fire stick on vacation and add the Apple TV app. Easier to setup

Was debating buying a new sound bar as my volume control would suddenly start and stop working. I thought my sound bar was too old (it’s 7 years old and perfectly fine for my needs). It was currently not working and randomly found and clicked on your video not even looking for a solution. But your remote reset tip immediately fixed the volume. You just saved me hundreds of dollars!

I personally love the timer feature. When I feel sleepy while watching a show I’ll put the timer on so that it turns everything off in case I’ll fall asleep.

Great video! Also one thing I noticed is: In order for your Iphone remote to work and be located, your Apple TV has to be connected via WiFi as opposed to being connected by the data cable directly to the router. Unless I'm doing something completely wrong.

Yeah if you are currently subbed to streaming devices especially through Apple your VPN will not work & you have to wait & cancel subscription & then activate the subscription again with ya VPN on and change location & will work (that's what instructions it gave me no matter what I tried ) so now it's working but four months ago didn't wanna know, lols, crazy(makes no sense)

Great ideas! I tried the VPN option, however the streaming service actually detected my VPN and asked me to stop the VPN before continuing. I guess it depends on which streaming service.

Install AirBrowser on your iphone or ipad and cast it to your TV. Because this browser was made with AirPlay in mind, you can control it using the apple tv remote

I have the same AppleTV remote as you.. and it controls my Samsung TV in regards to Power and Volume.. and I went to the VOLUME Setting on the AppleTV and set it to AUTO and I still can't control it via the Apple TV App on my iPhone 13Pro... I tried the reset/repair.. and it didn't fix it.. - THOUGHTS??

The ATV-4K controls my 5.1 speaker system...go into remote & devices and at the bottom select & choose IR or learn new... I Apple app on iPhone doesn't change volume) just use ya normal tv remote or app remote, there's tonnes of the things

I got my AppleTV HD two years ago because I wanted to add new subscription services but I also don't have anything that will display 4K. It came with the new remote control but I found that it was too touchy and far too easy to select something by accident. I parked it and now I just use my original AppleTV remote, the extra skinny one that came with my 3rd gen AppleTV or sometimes I use the remote on my phone. I got the John Wick DVDs from the library.

I just put an orange silicone sleeve so it can stand out. Dark case for a remote is the worst idea. Bright and annoying so it’s easy to spot. I recommend getting one with a strap too.

You can. In settings, go to remote and devices, and turn on control tvs and receivers. Your tv and receiver may need hdmi cec turned on in their own settings. Also make sure your tvOS is up to date for Apple TV

By the way, you can find your Siri remote if it got lost in the living room by going to control center and tap the remote then tap the name of the remote at the top and you'll see an icon to find it. No need for an airtag or special rubber airtag case.

The google tv is perfect for travel - Build in hdmi. - power over usb C (can often be powered from usb on tv or from extra output from travel charger. - light weight.. 120g with remote. - cheap … the thing you have a chance to forget when travel is your mediaplayer hide behind hotel tv on the wall. I think the apple tv is too heavy for travel and with both hdmi, power cable. Apple tv itself is 500g with remote then add the power cable and hdmi on top. They did improve on the apple tv for travel some time back i often had problems logging in to hotel wifi that required login from password from webpage. Vpn was also a great improvement. Still too heavy for travel
