*Fun Facts:* The businesses that was asking to sign with them were Disney, American Got Talent, Mexico Got Talent & so on. They said no to them. According to Pau. One of the people they talked with promised them they could play in front of 120,000 people. Pau told them she be more happy if there was only 12 people in the audience as long as they play what they want.

The producers of the TV show Glee also flew them to the US and they also turned them down. In 2015 they were days away from signing with a manager and record company but backed out. It was Victoria records from Mexico and the manager would have been the owner of Victoria, many of their early videos are filmed at Victoria studios.

This is the story behind their signing with Lava Records as I have heard it. When they drew Jason Flom's attention at the Mercury Theater shows in NYC, Rudy had reached out to Devon O'Connor, the Director of A&R for the label who is also a professional recording artist, asking her to open for TW at the shows, knowing that she would invite Jason Flom to at least one of the shows. Shrewd, calculated move. Jason attended both shows, by the way, having been so impressed with what he saw at the first show. Also, he stayed for the complete show, whcih is also rare, and he had made plans tobe somewhere else but cancelled those. But even though Lava approached them to sign a contract, it took 7 months of negotiation to reach a deal and throughout most of the time, TW had pretty much given up on signing a deal and though Lava had lost interest. They had planned to enter the studio and record what would become Error on their own and had scheduled a US tour to begin in early 2020. But the negotiations with Lava delayed their plans to record and the Pandemic delayed their tour plans...eventually allowing themt he free time in their schedule to fly to New Jersey and work with David Bendeth to record the album. Fun fact: Devon O'Connor lived in "The Bubble" with them during their recording sessions and she also was one of the backing vocalist on some fo the songs on Error.

@@elgonwilliams7624 You forgot to mention why it took 7 months to reach a deal. The Warning demanded and eventually got complete creative control over the music and their appearance (seems like other offers included dictating their fashion choices). They also kept their Patreon members, a huge revenue source for them. Did I miss anything else in the deal?

I think the message behind 'Evolve' relates to this. They signed with a major label for their third album, Error, and are possibly addressing their fans concerns that they're going to be manipulated into changing. They ask their fans to let them grow, and point out that the music industry is the one that has to look out: "I'm not in danger, I'M the danger!"

One of Pau's friends actually said something like "why does she spend so much time with their band? They're not going to go anywhere." Behind her back but it eventually got back to her and she was hurt by it being so passionate about her band. Animosity was written as a result. One of their best songs in my opinion.

She also wrote Narcisista as a response to ADULT critics who accused them to sell out to foreign culture, calling them "malachistas". Now for us who are not mexican we just dont understand how INCREDIBLY INSULTING that word is for a mexican to be called one, especially an artist. Paulina got so mad at it she wrote Narcidista as a reply. The entire song is a dressing down on their shortsighted critics and as a take that the song is in spanish and Paulina sings like like she is an angry grandmother dressing down and putting down the law on a naughty stupid grandson. Adults being told off by a teenager in a great song with mass appeal that made them even more famous, successful and beloved. These critics never learn a fundamental law regarding the arts: never piss off a comedian or a musician because they will take their revenge with their art and will make you look thhe fool while they reap sweet success.

They did eventually sign with Lava Records for a 5 album contract. Their last album Error was their first and soon their second album under Lava will be out. According to all of them, it was one of the best things they ever done as they negotiated the terms for 7 months and Lava did not want to change anything about them. Since then they have been on a world tours. toured with Muse, Guns and Roses, Foo Fighters, Three Days Grace and were headlining a few shows in Mexico and Argentina. They do know what they want and are following it. Great reaction.

Now you see why TWA suggested you take a look/listen to the whole thing. DPA/The Warning are mature beyond their years. IIRC one exec asked them would they rather play before 12 or 12,000; Pau's response was 12 if they could play what they/the band wanted to. As I understand it the ladies and team then walked out. During Survive.

The great irony here is that probably 3 years or less after that meeting they were playing to 55,000 opening for the Foo Fighters. Several of the suits wanted control over their complete image and what they wore, and told them to lay off the hard rock because it wasn't popular today. I pity the person that walks in and tells Pau what to wear. They'd be walking out the door with their shoe wedged in a tight spot.

It’s interesting that you bring up all of those that were NEGATIVE in their journey. Many have already described the corporate people who they walked away from; but there was also the news media in Mexico who basically called them ‘cultural traitors’ for writing songs in English. Pau wrote a song in Spanish that basically is a big ‘eff you’ to those people called NARCISSISTA. There is also the story of a friend of Pau’s who told her that The Warning wasn’t going anywhere and that she (Pau) was wasting her time. Pau wrote a song about that friend called ANIMOSITY. (Both are performed at the Teatro Metropolitan show). Moral of the story: DON’T piss off Pau-she’ll write a song about you!

As of right now, The Warning has 3,242 paying supporters on Patreon. The greatest number ( by far) of any band producing original music on the entire Patreon platform. In term of the number of subscribers, the only entities ahead of them, of the more than 14,000 in the Music category, are either reactors or offer lessons. As I understand it, keeping control of their Patreon account and contact with all those who supported them was very important to them, and one of the reasons their negotiations with Lava Records took 7 months. I believe their first albums were funded largely through contributions by fans on “ Kickstarter” campaigns.

Fun Fact about Survive: After the pandemic and touring started again in 2022, if you start watching Survive performances you will notice that the ladies start to do small choreographed movements during the song. In February of '22, I noticed that Ale and Dani swing their guitar necks in unison...after Dani finishes singing her first stanza and Pau continues with her refrain. Just a small swing. Then fast forward later in 2022 and you begin to see Ale and Pau adding a sychronized hair toss while Dani is singing her second stanza. Sometimes it's difficult to see it all because fan cameras don't focus on the entire band. But it is a lot of fun seeing them having so much fun!!

*Funnier Fact:* At 28:59 of this video. You will see that broken stick flying again after Pau hits the cymbal that broken piece landed on earlier. During this time Pau's nickname was *The Shredder.* Broken sticks. Busted drums. Damaged cymbals. When Pau drummed. She had *"chicken wings"* drumming style. Cause she learned the drums on an adult size drum kit. So she had to pound the kit to get a sound. About 5 or 6 years ago, she learned she doesn't have to do the *"chicken wing"* to get that hard drum sound. Looking at these old videos. She gave no mercy to those drum kits. She also request not to be called *"The Shredder"* anymore. The Warning Army has obliged.

Unsurprising. The "music industry" as a whole is toxic as hell, and still doesn't realize they aren't the power-players they used to be but rather have been relegated to merely marketing firms. Some have figured it out, and are doing fairly well, but many "labels" are rapidly going downhill because the print-house business model is, well, so 20th century, really. Electronic publishing is wiping out almost the entire physical media industry, which really was the "big stick" the labels held over artists heads in the past. But absent that, the only thing they really have to offer is *marketing* and "agency contacts", which are to be fair still useful - to a certain extent. Broadcast radio isn't really much of "a thing" anymore, so appealing to radio networks means little when there are 20k Spotify "channels" and people listen to over the 'net streaming or satellite rather than land-based EMF radio stations these days. The whole system has changed... but many companies still haven't realized it.

The two times that Pau was faced with people's negativity about what they do, she responded with two tremendous songs. one is Narcissistic, basically a middle finger to the critics who accuse them of selling their roots for writing their songs in English and not in Spanish. and the other is animosity, which, if I understand correctly, is for a friend who questioned her about practicing so much, and who told her that they weren't going anywhere... at least that's as far as I know. so it's better not to bother Pau... Saludos desde argentina. 🤘⚡🤘⚡🤘⚡

Now that I heard you talking about your situation and positive thoughts, I want to address it first! You are 100% right! I was in the lucky position, that I had to suffer enough, that I was willing to change my life and my thoughts! I learnt over the last few years that I can achive anything I ever wanted and all that was missing before, was the positive thinking and the belief in myself! And once you get there it's just to easy and you loose a lot of fears and get so much freedom! 👍🏻 Now back to my original comment. I think, it's almost always more the work and time that matters, when it comes to success. I think talent is what people mostly use as an excuse, why they can't get what they want while others do! ("They are rich and famous (if that's your goal😉), bcs they are so talented...) I think that's bad in two ways! 1. You will never even try to get what you want! Sad! 2. The people who worked their a.. off, don't get the respect and credit, they'd deserve. Also sad! I am pretty sure, and now it's getting dangerous here😂, Dany has not always been as good live, as she is now! Easy, compare her voice here with her voice at the VMA. She must have gotten so much more talent over the years! Incredible! 🤔 Especially with these three ladies, I am pretty sure, that they worked very hard to get where they are today! And that's why I respect them even more and why they are my fav band! Another great example would be Harry Mack, the freestyle rapper, who got famous over the last three years. Everyone says, he is sooo talented, although they all heard it ten times before, that he was practicing since was twelve yrs old(he is now in his early 30's). That's not called "talent"! That's dedication to what you love, thousands of hours of work, belief in yourself,... Have to add one thing! What I also love about The Warning is their passion you can see in every performance! Nothing acted and you always can feel and see it! I like your personality. You seem like nice guy! Have a great day and greetings from germany! ✌🏻

This video highlights Dany and Pau's talents well at this age but you gotta do a good Ale song now. The Hysteria cover at Liceo (there school) is best. Then there first music video the title track XXI Century Blood. Then Black Holes at The Dakota Bar. I'm just listing the have to songs for TWA admissions. Just joking but any The Warning fan will tell you they are must see/hear ones. Dany has so much charisma. Just wait till you get to stuff like the Dany midnight live videos. She's a bad ass, sensitive, and a total goofball.

Even at 11 Ale already had the same personality she has today: quieter and shier than her sisters yet very confident and well-spoken and a very cool and relaxed attitude, as if being onstage in front of a multitude being second nature, as natural as going to the fridge to get a snack.

The version of When I'm Alone that they perform live now has the first version with Dany alone witht he guitar before the remainder fo the band comes in to complete the song. There has also been a fully acoustic version of the song that was performed at three of their recent shows in Mexico. This TedX show may be the most I have ever seen Ale speak on stage. LOL Well, there was one show in Canada, I believe, where she did the band introductions because Dany was sick and conserving her voice. Re: naysayers telling you you'd never make it. Yes, a lot of their friends never believed they would make it big, including the one friend who told Pau she was wasting her time practicing and performing with TW instead of hanging out with friends. That inspired her to compose Animosity. But not spending time with friends is a hard choice for a teenager. Yes, Pau plintered her stick early on during Survive. Nowadays, she doesn't use her whole arm in delivering the stikes on her drums and cymbals. but her hits are no less impactful. She learned to use her wrists in the delivery. She actually injured her fingers a few times banging them against the rim of her snare in shows. So it was a matter or self preservation. Also her strikes are much more focused and arccurate, now.

I didn´t bother listening to your reaction when you only had Survive, and I guess you now can understand why!? The strong message these girls deliver in this performance is so crucial when it come to understand how they are wired and why they stayed independent so long. The record company asked them if they wanted to play for 12 people or 20.000, and Pau´s answer was "The Warning will play for 12 people if we can do what we want to do". And they walked out from the negotiations. They are so smart and have integrity enough to refuse selling out them selves, and that´s why I love The Warning, they are no carbon copies of anything. As usual a very entertaining and very good reaction to The warning! By the way, the thing you say about people telling them to stop believing and stop practicing all the time, is the story behind their song Animosity where one of Pau´s friends wanted her to skip band practice and go out and have fun, her efforts wouldn't lead anywhere anyway, she said. Pau of course got mad and wrote a song about it!

Somewhere in Pau’s teens a conscious decision was made that she needed to “refine” her playing style for a myriad of reasons. Only she knows the real reasons but it’s speculated that she/they knew it wouldn’t be sustainable going forwards when they started playing longer shows from a stamina standpoint. There’s also the longevity factor. It may have been difficult for Pau to maintain joint health throughout an extended career with her previous style. She was already experiencing shoulder and hip pain between shows and that was somewhat discussed by her on her socials. I believe there’s a 5 part video where “Bugs” Gonzalez from Los Lobos visited TW Cave to see them perform and in one part he is seen giving Pau some “tips of the trade”. If you compare present videos to earlier videos it is blatantly obvious even to an untrained eye that Pau still plays as powerfully as ever but she is so much more efficient and precise. All drummers break sticks from time to time. Pau was well known for that in the past but she really doesn’t break them at an alarming rate any longer.

@@mjc1389 Thank you for replying. Yes I agree . I watched an interview they did were the person that was interviewing them asked them a question to each one (sorry for not remembering the question at the moment) and Dani responded that it was the moment she saw David Gilmour doing the solo on the Pulse DVD that she felt in her heart that that is what she wanted to do. So we can thank David Gilmour for inspiring Dani.

Yeah they've had a couple even close friends that said they wouldn't go anywhere as a band thus Animosity written by Pau to her then friend, you're going to love the lyrics to it. So in short don't f@#$& with The Warning sisters or Pau will write about you. For instance Narcisista also written by Pau after getting criticized about only composing and singing in English being a Mexican band, it's a middle finger to those critics. 😅 And many more to come I can only hope so because their responses have been epic! Great reaction by the way
