Over in the UK, solar panels shaped like slates have been around for at least 15 years. Not that different from US shingles. Given that most of Ireland uses slate for roofing, this has been a sensible choice for a long time already. The downside? These slate and curved tiles have much lower efficiency than the "add-on" panels, so you NEED to cover the entire roof with them, just to get up to similar total power levels as less area with dedicated panels. And they cost a LOT more, so they haven't taken over the market. But when looks matter, they win easily.

Any printer is like another printer nowadays lol. Is the bambu basically a Voron but proprietary? Which is basically an ultimaker 3? Is the A1 just a prusa clone with an app? Which is just a prusa mendel with a nicer display? Which is just a RepRap Darwin? It's all iterations. And it's great. Take a good concept, refine it, compete with the other products. This one is bigger, according to some reviews better built, open source (still, using the same slicer so the experience is the same if you don't wanna go into that), faster, with closed loop control (sick!), actively heated chamber, it has lasers to record precise z height to make sure it restarts correctly after a power failure, and it costs about the same as a x1c. And I'm not sh-tting on bambulabs mind you, I own their printers and they're great. I'm just sick of everything being "just another x clone" with every printer that comes out. It's been said a million times since the start of the hobby, it got old like the second time. The one thing that's dubious is that it's not proven to be reliable yet. Oh! Exactly what people (me included, it's a valid concern) said about the bambus two years ago, lol.

I do like the Aiper added a communications module, but of course, it doesn't actually come with the cleaner. I also don't know how reliable the whole "pool quality monitor" aspect of it is, so I'm not sold on having to most likely pay even more for that functionality to be built in. I was hoping that some companies would follow Wybot's approach and build a charging dock that the robot would automatically use, but it doesn't seem like we're quite there yet. One thing I'd prefer to see them stop pushing is adding pool skimming to the surface cleaners. It may sound like a nice option, but keep in mind that you can buy a pool skimming robot for like $300, and since it charges via solar, it almost never needs to be recharged. Using the pool skim option on the cleaner robot just puts more drain on the battery meaning you have to charge it more often. Given that -- in my experience -- the dedicated robot skimmers work quite well, I don't see the point in using that feature on the pool cleaner. Also, don't waste your money on expensive pool skimmer robots (i.e., Beatbot). I've tried them; they're just not worth it. (I use a Betta SE Plus.) Really, the only reason why I keep looking at pool cleaner robots is the one downside of pool skimming robots... they don't always play well with corded pool cleaners. After my Dolphin M600 died, I went with a slightly cheaper one until I could find one that I really liked. Honestly, the cheaper one actually works fine... except, it lacks one vital feature that I think is a glaring omission even at the "cheap" price of $700... mode selection. For example, if I had some leaves collecting on the bottom of the pool, I would tell the M600 to go into floor mode, and it would back off if it started detecting a wall. The one I have now (Nautilus CC Plus WiFi) does not have that option. It's just a put-it-in-the-pool-and-it-cleans-everything mode.
@r-mur12 күн бұрын
Just a note on the Shokz... IP55 water protection DOES NOT mean submersible like those headphones in that tank of water. That is a grossly exaggerated example. IP55 actually means it can withstand low pressure water (eg. rain) from any angle. For a device to be truly waterproof, it will need to be at least IPx7. An IP rating is "Ingress Protection" with the first number indicating solid objects and the second number indicating liquids. A device rated at IP22 would mean you can't stick your fingers into it and it can handle a small amount of water dripping vertically onto it. An IP55 device has enough dust protection as to not interfere with the performance of the device, and enough water resistance to withstand a light shower. "Waterproof" starts at IP67.

Robotics in households have been a market for so long and it never really seemed more then a gimick but in the past few years vacuum robots really started to develop so many features. It is becoming really cool.

Jackery's output is only 60 amps at 120v. If we were talking twice that, then we'll be golden. However, it should be fine to run a couple fridges/freezers and charge some devices. Also, the SHOKZ don't use bone conducting tech like the OpenRuns. They're speakers really close to your ears. My SIL was pissed when she found this out after she bought them. Turns out people can hear what your listening to as opposed to the old style.

Aye that 25% efficiency for hackery solar panels, is 5% higher than I've seen anywhere else
@Keepskatin13 күн бұрын
i highly doubt those are 25% efficiency especially with that coating reducing lumens.
@brownmuta753713 күн бұрын
@Keepskatin yeah I was skeptical of it too. But tbh the other ones I've seen that were 20% were also a Matt finish, they were black so they should absorb more heat but that roof was meant to heat water aswell, hence the Matt black finish
@maximravinet995013 күн бұрын
I'm very curious to see a proper analysis of those roofs. They seem pretty cool as an idea but I don't know how well they work in the real world

Bro 8:45, they literally just copy and pasted the Bambu Labs X1... It looks identical!! It even has an AMS clone 😭

When I was watching I genuinely thought he misspoke and was supposed to say bambu labs. Looked exactly like an X1 Carbon with the AMS

one of the coolest years for CES i think that isnt just gidgets and gizmos. The scanning and 3D printing tech is really neat, and the Jackery Full house system is really awesome along with the roof tiles. Definitely excited to see more pricing on these in the future
