Gaultier visited my club several years ago and we actually made him play us with a vintage wooden racket, a huge sombrero on his head, while carrying an empty suitcase in his left hand. If the sombrero fell off or he dropped the suitcase, he lost the point. He was a great sport and happily did it, still beating us all in the process! Just a fantastic guy and a great ambassador for the game. Wish he was still on tour.

LOL. Wish I'd Seen That.

Based on the evidence in this video, I rather suspect he'd have still beaten me if you'd filled the suitcase with bricks and made him play blindfolded.

We once made him play in blackface while wearing a diaper at my club with much the same result - he smashed all of us and thoroughly enjoyed himself!

Getting beat up by "The French General", would be an honour. Glad to see he is still kicking and promoting squash.

I am an out of shape Masters age player who did NYC with Gregory and I can confirm it was an absolute blast to play with him. He is easily the most deceptive player in terms of his speed and shot selection, I've ever seen let alone played. He was just SUCH a superstar and completely generous with both his time and information. I went all the way from NZ to see him and as an absolute mind boggling bonus, got to do the experience with James Wilstop who is every bit the nice guy and genuine human he seems to be. I'll never forget the experience.

Saw a former German number one with a wooden racket playing in his left hand (he plays right) demolish a player 10 years younger and twenty slots below his ranking… squash is brutal.

What does 20 slots below him in ranking mean? Like currently ranked 200 vs 220 in the world? If so that's ridiculous, the level difference at that point is not nearly as large as 1 vs 21

@@jimmyxu98 i guess he means german no 1 vs german no 20. I was once at no 16 in the german rankings. At that time Simon Rösner was at no 1. He would've easily beaten me with a wooden racket on his left. The guy who jh referred to might have been Simon Baker, who regularly played his younger teammates with his left hand and demolished them. The big difference is movement and pace. You can eliminate precision and shotmaking by playing with wrong hand but movement and general pace of your play is still there.

would be great to arrange special worldwide events to donate a mount of money for at least 3 points match with the former World #1 retired players or former TOP 5 (female or male). Believe me, I´d die to play with Mr Gregory or Mr Ashour or Ms Laura Massaro...

Even now Gaultier would school Sherbini and the top 10 women easily with strength and pressure, unfortunately the men are just stronger physically same as tennis where it’s just a genetic advantage that can’t be overturned.

Some of these matches were happening in the past and they all came out completely lopsided. You can find one of these on YT.
