This really doesn’t seem worth the price. Theyre finally restocking over a year later and haven’t changed anything including the $200 price tag. I feel like i could easily diy something cheaper cooler and more unique to my style. Also theres so much other better gear and better sounding digital kalimbas you could get for that price!

I don’t know man. At first it seems kind of “cool” because there are all those sound effects. But these effects sound very annoying and pointless pretty quick. I guess someone could argue that kalimba can become annoying even without the effects, but I think a regular wooden acoustic kalimba has more depth and a clearer sound

The high pitch sound is because you're slowing the sample rate. So as audio with frequencies higher than half the sample rate enter the effect, they're coming out the other end in funky ways that don't relate logically to how they came in. (I think. Maybe this isn't DSP. Then it's some other reason). Interesting anyway!
@iamsushi10563 жыл бұрын
this is indeed DSP. It's the same chip that drives a lot of guitar multi-effects pedalboards, although there's usually a lot of them in those.

Hi, I'm fascinated by the modding he is doing in this video the skillset behind it, but this is all beyond my knowledge. This is definitely something I would love to learn about and become skilled into but I don't even know how I should call the different skills involved in this so I can make researches as to how I might go about learning the involved crafts. Can someone guide me with some keywords and maybe a short explanation of what one would need to learn and become skilled into to be able to mod electronics and musical instruments like this all by oneself?

Still meh. I have a decent piezo I can put into anything then run it into any effect pedal. Way more versatile and still cheaper. Just surprising that he’s highlighting this product after making videos where he builds kalimbas. I guess it’s decent content but just not feeling this product. For that price you can grab a used novation circuit or older groovebox and get way more mileage. 😋
