I've mained Cagliostro solo all the way now to the final fight in Maniac. Gearing up to get past that. I have had Katalina, Djeeta and Rosetta as my AI teammates. On paper, it seems like perhaps not the best team, as it is all support and no singularly strong DPS, but we're doing just fine. Love this game!

@@overlord1995 As an AI companion I'm not sure she is using her roses ideally. I know stacking skill sets like Katalina and Captain the AI doesn't use very well.

I would wholeheartedly agree that Cag and Percy have been a solid AI cornerstone to my team. For Cag I ignore her Revive and put traps there instead. My third lately has been Charlotta, a 50% damage reduction that stacks with defense up is solid, but particularly the ability for her to share her SBA guage has been huge for getting some good "wail on the boss" time

Cagliostro will quick charge her Collapse after a link attack, or doing one of her attack combos. I kept her mimic doll for a gap maker, quick charge, and good damage, but even running 3 support skills you will be weaving in tons of quick Collapses.

I can tell you're pretty intelligent considering how logical you are. To start off, I'm a hardcore min-maxer analysis guy. And I also came to the conclusion of having Cagliostro and Percival. For Cagliostro, simply because of Phantasmagoria. It's the only unique "buff" in the game that stacks with other general ATK/DEF buff. As for the general ATK/DEF buff, I had two choices, Captain with Rage buff + Siegfried's Def buff (Greater %) or Percival's Flammenmarsch. Siegfried was a top contender for Percival spot because he also has his Salvator buff. But after testing and realizing that 2 buffs he had, only has a 25% uptime compared to Percival's 50% uptime, the choice became obvious, especially considering that the masteries effects also increases by %, which has a greater effect on Percival's longer base duration. If the masteries were +2 secs (for example), I could make a case for Siegfried taking the spot. My 3rd slot goes to Captain, Miserable Mist with Tier 4 Arts is probably the best debuff in the game. Clarity is also another must have spell on the captain, cleanse + regen effect.

I did not enjoy playing as Gran either but surprisingly Djeeta felt much better to play as! Their skills are the same but they each have unique square combos with her kick and his jump.

I absolutely love Narmaya to pieces. I'm still a little surprised that she's actually a tank, as she didn't have her skill that increases threat in the Demo but she starts off with it in retail. She has kind of a steep learning curve but is oh so rewarding (I can't seem to get the hang of her charge parry) and capable of some insane AoE and Single Target damage - honestly it reminds me a lot of playing Samurai in FFXI and I think that's why I'm liking her so much (aesthetics aside LOL) I really want to experiment with Lancelot, however I am strongly considering Cagliostro as my second main because I do like playing support and she IS THE dedicated support character. Couldn't have said it better myself by the way - the level of customization in this game, coupled with good music and genuinely fun combat is just so compelling. Again, I haven't felt this engaged and compelled by an RPG since my baby XI ^ . ^ hello new addiction. It's definitely scratching the itch that FF16 failed to - not to say that game was bad, just that GBR offers so many possibilities and I am very much looking forward to Seofon and Tweyen in April, particularly given the lack of ranged attackers.

Vaseraga for the 1milly smacks is my main... however now that ive reached proud difficulty ive got him in as AI to deal the DPS while I afk farm to level the rest of the roster. I find you need a ranged unit as main while AFK farming for a better experience. Vaseraga is a G. I recommend him.

Now that you know about how damage scales late game, I'm sure you've realized how bad Phantasmagoria falls off. Most characters cap their damage without any attack buffs and without the need to crit. Just mentioning this for those who may be watching this in the future. Phantasmagoria should be replaced with another skill if you are still using Cagliostro at endgame.

Yodorha is a solid pick if you want crazy damage buff(100% on 3 shrouds) with 100% uptime, if you dont get hit.

I`m using Currently: Narmaya - as my Main DPS. My reason? Loli-short stacks with big "Motivation" :) Cagliostro - Buufs, heals for my Party, cute. Siegfried - Has a skill, that grants: "Debuff Immunity & Drain" to the Whole party. Which i like, i can focus on Damaging the enemy more! 4th Party member is usually a Flex Slot Character. However, Ferry - with her own super buff & the buffs from Siegfried & Cagliostro => MASSIVE BIG DAMAGE NUMBERS! :) Also she has a team wide heal, to support HP / Heals even further. Vane - is a good alternative, for whenever bosses do Massive attacks, to pop his invincibility bubble & hold down the team, keep them alive. Really useful in Bahamut fights whenever your playing online with other people. Now this is where it gets exciting, as you can basically put any character you want. However - i think that Gran/Djeeta with their own buffs to the party are also not a bad idea, because they can offer: Damage Cut, Heal/Regeneration/Armor break & more. If you focus on "Captain" as a Debuffer, support character with LOTS of Stun - (1 skill for stun and other 3 for support) its also quite a potent combination. That carried me throughout the story. My story team was: Cagliostro asap. Narmaya 2nd. Siegfried last. When you focus on Captain as a support & Cagliostro - the benefits can easily outweigh the "Want" for More damage. I find that a well balanced team that has Heals, Support buffs, Debuffs on enemy & only 1 up to 2 Damage dealers is best. But a Support character is mandatory! At least 1. Last but not least - the sigil that gives you better Dodge/Evasion is surprisingly OP & Good to have! GG WP

lancelot was my first unlock, then narmaya and cagliostro are my unlocks, won't unlock anymore till i finish the story but it'll be Zeta next. I main narmaya, i kinda regret unlocking and somewhat building lancelot since i wanted a fast melee character so i thought he would be great for me but i found narmaya more fun to play so i never use him anymore.

The AI plays Rosetta really well. Eugen, Rackham and Io are totally cracked at dps. I’ve heard this advice about Percival and Cagliostro because of their buffs but plenty of characters have great buffs. I’d argue that Lancelot is a better pick as his CC is more valuable than another damage buff. Cag and Percy are both really strong but don’t feel obligated to pick these two first. The AI plays Zeta pretty bad so save her for later unless you want to play as Zeta

I've been having a ton of fun with Ferry! Comes off a bit lazy cause you basically just have to hold buttons down but still very enjoyable. havent reached far into endgame cause of pc issues but I do look forward to playing around with sigils and building her up. I feel whips should be added more into games haha!

Super agree with his picks here and both are amazing as AI. Some other super easy characters that are really strong I would recommend are Lancelot and Vane. Vane is super tanky and can just sort of cheese through fights with his survivability and also has an AoE invincibility skill to just skip hard boss mechanics. Lancelot is just the easiest DPS as you just spam square while standing still as much as possible. No real mechanics to him other than that very similar to dual blades in monster hunter. I was maining Katalina for a long while now trying out some others. My current team is Lancelot, Percival, Io, and Cagliostro.

While in story, its a bit hard to get the right characters. I went with Lancelot and Namriya. Lancealot is good, but better later he's kind a better damage Katalina. Namriya is in a world of her own. Her crit rate is so high, that during boss quests at the quest counter she obliterates the other team members. Also the red statues, she is the reason I can do them, the other characters are just not strong enough. Sadly the starting characters, are very weak compared to the crewmate cards.

I chose Narmaya first. Just all around an amazing character. From her katana flurries and ability to rapidly engage and disengage, cool dual-stances with damage stacks to her great art design, I highly recommend for those who enjoy rapid swordplay and dodging. I plan to unlock Percival second.

I want to say if you're an experienced action RPG player or have played FFXVI, I highly recommend Charlotta. She has a 30%-120% Self ATK buff that scales as you don't get hit. A kit filled with Counters -15%DEF and HUGE DPS potential with her skills and Noble stance, (press X or LMB) over and over and let that DPS Melt bosses. She's very skill expressive maybe not super new action player friendly but super powerful in the right hands. My second recommendation would be Katalina. She is a great Jack of all trades who can heal cc or really push the DPS with her summon out of the field. She has great support skills and also strong CC and Stun(The blue bard for Link attacks)

Yeah I main Vane. Using his strong attacks to block dmg while still outputting dmg is awesome. And having Caggy as a cpu member is dope! Those heals and revive are amazing and really saved my potion usage. I also put Percy in for the dps but mainly I just love hearing the banter between him and Vane lol

One thing I learned very quickly, damage buffs are useless endgame since you hit damage cap so easily and they dont do anything. I maxed charlotta first and my damage is the same with and without valiant stance. Idk if it was their way to balance the game, but the hard damage caps and needing 65 levels of a skill to still be capped so hard on damage is a bit annoying. It makes so many skills and sigils useless.

Using them along with Sieg for extra utility on proud difficulty, and they served well Swap Cag's phantasmagoria for maybe a dmg skill later when crit rate is high enough
