I enjoy all of the HD-2D remake but I haven't been able to put DQ3 game down, played this game waaaay back on the GBC and it is so amazing going through it again.

Octopath 2 is one of my fav games of all time now. It’s OST, characters, and battle system completely captivated me and the HD-2D style puts my inner child at ease. So wonderful

I'm 30 years old, I grew up playing jrpgs, on my brother's SNES, playing these HD-2D games wakes up that child who stayed up late playing chrono trigger, that's why I love them ❤️

Devs openly state intentions to avoid fan service but literally shoehorn all these ff7 compilation stuff into the ff7 story simply just for fan service sake.

it's really hard to somehow put them in order, all 5 of them are awesome. my ranking would be: 5. Live Alive 4. Octopath 1 3. Triangle Stragey 2. Dragon Quest 3 1. Octopath 2 I really want to put DQ3 on #1 as well, as DQ is my favorite franchise and I also love DQ3 dearly, but what made me pick Octopath 2 over it is the better soundtrack, the nice character stories and the postgame. OT2 had an awesome postgame while DQ3's just felt thrown together without any thought. Also (spoilers ahead!) having just color palette swaps as final postgame bosses is a bit lame. Still an awesome game, though.

Live a live was 10000% my favorite!

5-LiveALive (didn’t like it at all) 4-Octo1 (liked ok but forgettable game) 3-Octo2 (better and more memorable characters and stories) 2-DQ3 (love it!) 1-Triangle (played every single possible path, over 85h, love the story and characters so much, this game is in my top10 of the decade for sure!)

I'm 40 so these HD-2D games are really nostalgic for me. The two games I need in this style are Final Fantasy 6 and Chrono Trigger. Squaresoft know those are what the fans want.

I really want to see Phantasy Star IV (or any of the old Phantasy Star RPGs) get remade in HD-2D. Phantasy Star IV is the game that gave me the RPG bug way back on the Sega Genesis.

I definitely understand your issues with Triangle Strategy, like christ my pro controller would turn itself off between some of the cutscenes! But I just love the combat system too much and the story is quite good!

Octopath Traveler 2 is outstanding. Triangle Strategy is also a favorite for me. Can't wait to see more games in this style.

Unpopular opinion (maybe) but i'de love to see a Tales of Phantasia 2DHD remake

yeah im in the same boat, DQ3 hd-2d remake is the best pixel hd by far from square and certainly not due to recency bias. Really hope that octopath traveller 3 will have flying/ship exploration as in 2 you'd already be out and about on foot or on water with boat and dq3 exploration as an whole hits on all 3 levels. Another inspiration i would love to see happen for the octopath 3 team is suikoden1/2 remake, seeing 6 chracters on the field is awesome. We've seen 8 with the mobile octopath game but putting 8 characters on the field for an whole game in 3 would be quite the improvement over 2 where only 1 boss has 8 party member combat.

Treasure of the Rudras would be my pick for a game that would naturally slot into this style.

Chrono trigger ff6 terranigma illusion of gaia treasure of the rudras would be great games to do hd2d earthbound mother 3 as well any Pokémon game would just as well

DQ3 story is great, don't understand why people complaining. The world building is great because the NPC dialogue is interesting to read. It isn't your typical AAA hand-holding cutscene game, and I think that's great. Love the old games where people still had to think for themselves

Honestly man HD 2D isn't my style I get the appeal but I like 2D pixel art the way it is.

Chrono trigger would be cool as an HD2D, but honestly, they can do better nowadays, and it deserves it. Same game, completely hand drawn in the style of Toriyama with fully realized sprites. I want them to go all in.
