I LOVE this video. It doesn’t talk over people and yet it doesn’t talk down to them. It’s easy to understand and things are explained without judgment or bravado. Did a great job explaining how to drill into cinder block. However I did notice you spun the first tapcon. The second and third one were fine. I just wanted to mention watch your torque setting on your driver or you will over spin the tapcon. For myself I like to use my power driver to drive it 90% of the way then switch to a socket and hand driver so I can feel the torque on the screw and know when to stop. It's imperative that you do not over spin the tapcon or it will not hold. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

I only have a cordless screwdriver (with drill function, no hammer action), but VERY good quality bits (Bosch Pro Multi-Purpose Drill Bit Set - hex shank) and it makes mince meat of any concrete blocks. Turns out tungsten carbide does all the magic (rated 9 on the Mohs scale), and so it's 3 to 10x faster drilling than with my old drill bits. The hex shank is a dream too as that it means it'll never slip in the chuck. It's obviously a lot quieter than a hammer action drill too. No ear muffs necessary, though I would recommend a dust mask (especially for the air duster part - great tip btw!), as concrete dust is nasty stuff. Tried scratching glass with these tungsten carbide drill bits and it was pretty amazing. Without too much effort, the glass easily scratched and scraped (terrible sound!). Tried with my older cheaper masonry bit, and with tons of pressure, I managed to only scratch it very slightly.

Before that kind of drill was introduced, the regular drill was used to drill on concrete wall. If you hit a stone, hit it with a concrete nail so can go on drilling or your dril bit will just keep on sliding on top of the stone.

Eric, I was taught by my grandfather to drill into the mortar and not the brick, he told me that you can damage the integrity of the brick, so I Googled it and this is what I got along with your video from Garden Fork. "Do you drill into the brick or mortar? Make sure you drill into a mortar joint -- one of the white lines in between the brick. Do not drill directly into the brick! Not only would that be difficult, but you would risk cracking the brick. A masonry drill bit is designed for brick and concrete and is identifiable by a triangular-shaped tip. Nov 29, 2012"
