I agree she is very gorgeous on the inside and out and inspiring and a joy to tune into. I’m not understanding why you think she’s not wearing makeup though and make it sound like she’s completely natural.. She is wearing makeup, and I believe she has lip fillers as well, and she likely paid a lot to get her hair that way too, which is completely fine. If she painted her nails that would be fine too. There are plenty of women on KZbin who don’t physically alter their appearance (by wearing makeup, getting lip injections and dying their hair like her) and should be celebrated, because it takes a lot of courage in such a superficial world to do so. I just think you’re wildly mistaken that she doesn’t put a lot of effort into her looks because she does, and again that’s completely fine. It’s difficult to be a woman in the public eye, so no criticisms either way - I just think it’s best to give credit where it’s due. It’s likely easier for women to spot what other women have had done (makeup, fillers, hair, etc.) and you’ve shown that maybe men don’t realize how much work some women have done just to look “naturally beautiful” - though Araya would be very beautiful without lip injections, hair dye and makeup too!

@@k4t1155 this is a good point, but I'd like to add on to this. The way I see it is just the gender based social conditioning that's responsible for this to an extent. I mean I see women applying makeup to appear beautiful even if they are not necessarily in the media industry. But here's the thing: why do we have to question people (men or women) about the way they show up in any case? It's because it's a tough dance: many claim that they present themselves the way they do because it makes them feel beautiful and not to maintain external appearances (in the case of women it's to "appeal to the "male gaze" as has the been the case for the media for a long time and still today). But then you see a lot of sexualization in the media landscape and wonder what transactions happen behind the scenes to make people put on such appearances. The real reason is so many of us are so stuck in the sensual gratification, that is not enough to acknowledge a person for the work but also, they must appear a certain way to do so for the message behind to stick. The messenger becomes more important than the message. And free market capitalistic forces can fulfill this supply and demand perfectly today. One of the main points of what she says (I believe) is to embrace spirituality and mount a resistance (at individual and hence collective levels) to these forces that encroach upon our biases. To acknowledge the beauty in all of divinity and creation. And again, if we comment on her appearance and focus too much on it, the essence of her message is lost. If you find someone attractive (because of a wide variety of reasons) don't need to shirk away from it, acknowledge it. But the problem becomes with riveting on it. And I don't know Araya (like any other KZbinr) behind the scenes, so I can't ratify any of what you claim. But I think it's fine if you ignore all of it and focus on the message, whilst ackowledging that these trends exist in the media landscape in general. We don't operate in this material world as entirely independent selves: we are shaped by the thoughts of people we know and the actions of many who we will never know, whether in the present or the past. By trying to question the intention behind actions at each point, we risk going down that rabbit hole of judgement and perceptions that stop us from leaning in to the spiritual pursuits.
