First off, great video! Secondly…. Son of a…. I scanned that trade kiosk thing thinking it was something to research and build, completely ignoring the fact you can actually use them. And I’ve been through two of those mantis caves now. Missed the hidey hole where the motion detectors were too. And yeah I’m actually carrying first aid kits, at least two stacks of regular bolts and one stack of charged along with the standard jug of water and a couple rations. They eat up inventory space but definitely come in handy now. Finally my loot goblin ways have become beneficial as crap that I’ve hoarded is now becoming useful!

Let's pick up everything we haven't found, then pull out the scanner and find nothing to scan. Maybe if you scan it first before picking it up... might help. The common ailment called "loot fingers", described in modern medical books as a condition that causes the infected to loot first and ask later.

I use storage boxes (the one you scanned last time) as floor between devices and large grow plots. Small grow plots are also placed on storage. Also place storage onto freezers. Wall storage also some places. Some devices can be placed on the ceiling. Overall try out placement tricks, save a lot of space that way. 3x3 rooms are the main area of my vessel, then in front a stair room and the standard cockpit (bed and only a few other things). 2x2 walkways at front both sides, enough for all devices needed. Have 4 hovers (2 back and front) and 3 thrusters at back, so pretty slim, no walls. When play it with next larger update, I probably change the design by place grow plots on walkways so can reduce the amount of modules to save mass.

You already have two deck extractors on your ship. Those are what you need to upgrade to the automatic filtering deck extractors. These are amazing for preventing you from running into debris. Though they rip through solid state batteries, but you will never have to worry about metal and synthetics again. I typically keep one spot on each one for glass and copper
