Today on my YT feed appeared a video of the most popular normie tech KZbinr, who was reviewing this Apple product. I don't usually watch normie YT channels, but even I have heard of this Marquis guy. For some reason, he was trying to make this item look cool and desirable. Meanwhile, I was getting 1984 and Brave New World vibes and low-key shaking IRL. How can anyone be excited for this? Are those people serious? I won't eat ze bugs, nor own nothing, nor wear ze headset, nor buy ze subscription, nor live in a pod. It's funny how they are trying to normalize something so disgusting. Is this how Richard Stallman felt when the mobile phones were slowly normalized and popularized?

The things you said are totally valid but i think its a case of just tech companies being the literal devil. If the people making new AR tech want to make it good, they will. Problem is that they dont. At the end of the day this thing is just a computer with cameras and screens. The problems are the some, just ramped up to 11.

Im sick of everyone pretending that vr hasnt already been a big thing for years. Meta exists, the psvr 2 just launched. Apple sucks in comparison. It doesnt have controllers, how are you gonna play games on it? The only game you can play on it is candy crush. When will big corporations realize that we want to play video games and not immersively do our taxes.

You have to see the positives here, at least you can give your child an AI friend without worrying about him being cyberbullied or kidnapped by "a stranger on the internet" Edit: This was supposed to be a joke... why did everybody take it so seriously? Like the child "not being kidnapped by a stranger on the internet" was supposed to be really ironic because the child is literally being kidnapped by the most inhuman stranger on the internet.

the AI friend will probably be biased (since it's developed by Apple). Do you really want your kid influenced and emotionally attached to a fake person? Let alone one designed by a corporation like Apple?

Having an AI friend is worse than being put in a Skinner box. The company that develops the AI is ultimately going to control you and mold you into whatever they find desirable. In Apple's case - a good consoomer, who buys only Apple products and upgrades every time there is a new one would be ideal.
