China is making steady progress in innovations, semiconductor chip production is one such example. As of now China is much ahead of the USA in patent submission. Aviation industry is critical because safety concern. China is catching up in aviation industry. They have developed engine for both C919 and C929. Today's China has the capability to develop anything.

Hypersonic travel is unlikely to ever take off commercially using Scramjet or other hybrid Ramjets but the military is another matter. I think a hypersonic glide plane is a more likely alternative, think space tourism as part of the travel itinerary. This would involve much less complexity or new technology, just a SpaceX booster and a hypersonic glide passenger plane that will spend part of it's flight in sub-orbit before gliding in for a landing in a normal airport.

Blah, blah blah, another Bullshit theoretical concept. You cannot achieve Mach12 in Earths atmosphere even at 30klms altitude. I have seen another video only today stating a vertical takeoff vehicle/space plane from China leaving the atmosphere and re-entering. A rocket can do this easily on re=entry but it does build up its speed - mach 17 plus from Space (130klms+). Besides Hermeus in the USA will have their own hypersonic Mach 4-6 planes out in the next 3-5 years as they have already tested their RamJets on the bench and beginning flight testing soon. Anything over Mach 5 within earths atmosphere will not happen in the next 10 years. Maybe 20-50. But Ramjets and Detonation engines possible up to Mach 5 in the next 5-10 years.
