Texas treats silver and gold as currency, therefore not taxed. You are trading fiat currency for real currency. Some states tax it though

That would explain why as eBay said they are charging tax on taxable items no matter where you live and buy it from.

The only problem with medals is selling it. You pay spot plus fee. So $23+$3+7 an ounce to buy it. So you have to get over you actual costs. Then you go to sell it. Dealers are going to try to offer you spot plus $1-3. Their goal is to make the $4 over what they paid. The good thing is no tax on metal sales or purchases.

Well said! I'm so new at this as an ol' gal! Ive recently bought and hope to continue to buy rather than put into bank! But heaven forbid should a time come that I'd need to trade in for money! I have NO CLUE where or what to do! Im zero trusting banks etc. I've been informed that any purchase at or above 10k is tracked (or needs auth of some sort) with banks. They need to know WHAT I'm withdrawing MY money for! HELL NOT THEIR BUSINESS, so never bought that much at once. But for crying out LOUD getting a monster box would be quick, easy. I like the credit card angle! Im just a granny, debt free in tiny home wanting to protect my a$$ - on gut feeling. The Only $ I want in the bank is enough to pay my bills- not a penny extra. A few months ago I walked in with my neighbor to make a withdrawal (NOT THAT MUCH) she was told to come back the next day bc they didn't have that amount on hand 7k! I would not believe it if I didn’t witness it myself.

I bought a few 10 ounce silver bars back in 2004, I sold them in 2008 but I saved 1 of them. Back in 2004 a 10 ounce bar was worth about 70 bucks, today that same bar is worth about 230 bucks

Sincere question, has anyone walked into a place that pays you the value of the coin? I respectfully am out of my comfort zone but have purchased as much as I poss can in gold/silver in past 18 mo. Im a granny sticking every penny from a small side income into gold silver rather than savings. Im not fond of storing it ~ scary but prefer than bank. I dont even know where to cash in need. I thought we have to pay some sort of tax too if we cash in coins etc. My heart dropped getting the tiny gold thing that cost alot. Im SO GREEN about all of this. My gut says bills are soon worthless.

I just found my cousins sterling silver Lincoln mark bars. 8 at 1.2 ounces each. .999 silver bars . Took them to Dallas Gold and silver the guy told me you have to do it in Troy ounces. He takes em came back n said they are .96 each in troy ounces.. well I said how much? He said $136.00 for all 8! Ugh nope I don't think so .... I took them back home n probably will just hang on to em for awhile. It's not much but it will gain more if I hang onto them . 😁
