He is right about the redlines. The dates on the bottom of modern Hot Wheels are the date the casting was made not when the car was released. For an example a car that comes out this year might say 1987 on the bottom, but that was the year it was originally produced. Sometimes they will have two dates, the original production year, and the year they make any modifications or updates to the casting.

I had close to 600 redlines as a kid. Had a tough childhood (For real). My Grandpa rewarded me for extra chores and no fighting with redline hotweels. I stuttered something awful and kids made fun. I learned that punching the boys, even the bigger ones stopped that crap. I gave my nephews my collection in 1989. They almost all looked new at that time. Watching TV in 2000 I saw redlines going for huge money. I Stopped counting value $$ when I had reached $189k ish and I was maybe 45% to 50% done counting my old collection. My sister threw the cars away in 1992 when she got mad at the boys. Would, Coulda, Shoulda. I collect them again but not the Super crazy expensive ones. LOl.

The olds 442 redline is one of the rarest cars to come by. $1000 US is about what they go for. They sell regularly for $2500 US in mint condition. That's when one is available, that's like finding hens teeth. I know of people who have gone around looking specifically for hotwheels redlines for the last 25 years and have never come across an olds 442 especially in apple green. I cannot express the rarity of that car.

I'm not a crazy expert but I know that the non fire rescue or police olds 442 worth big money. I know that green is rare colour in almost any car. A redline Hotwheels website I go to often sells them and he has sold purple olds 442 for $2850 US and they have sold. That is a very rare car and find a collector would pay $1000 a the drop of a hat I'd imagine for that car.

Tape is never good on a plastic container for a iid because risk if getting something stuck on the tape and the paint coming off I never had any hot wheels I had the sesame street cars I think It was 16 cars and they were in a yellow plastic case of a school bus some of them are skufit up but they were fun to push acrossed the floor tommytbone 👍

Just because it said sold on ebay and said 1000 don't mean it was sold for that price!!! I've seen those cars in better shape almost mint for 750 !! I've did Restorations on many of the red line toolings iam the owner and designer of simple kustoms in south Carolina!! I've bought and sold those cars for just over 45 years .the market is way over priced because of covid as well as the sports card market!! And it will crash big time soon !!

My wife just sold a Five Nights At Feedy’s plush for $1500 There were lots of other sales at $1000 for other people, but she said, I’m going go to list it for $1500. It sat for 5 months and someone finally bought it for $1500 Sale price is subjective. It all depends on how bad someone wants it. Sale price and demand are subjective. So why not cash in now? If you think it’s overpriced then don’t buy it. That’s what I do. Just because you think it’s overpriced doesn’t mean it not worth that amount to someone.

The market is the market. It’s not the collectors “greed” that drives price, It’s the buyers stupidity. If the buyers wouldn’t buy them at the high prices, the collectors wouldn’t be selling them at the high prices.
