The myth that we feel less pain still exist today. I have a diagnosis that is rare in adults that causes abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting, all at once. Throughout the process of trying to figure out what was wrong with me, I was told on multiple occasions by different doctors from at least 4 hospitals, that I was either being over dramatic, lying about the pain, drug seeking, or just plain imagining that something was wrong with me. The doctors would stand there and just watch me go through all these symptom and coldly dismiss everything I was going through. The trauma I experienced has scarred me when it comes to dealing with doctors. Which is very unfortunate because I have to see doctors because I have a kidney transplant and also survived cancer twice. I at least get pain meds for my suffering now. I can't imagine going through what my ancestors did during those horrific experiments. Reparations for our people is a debt owed and long overdue.

Thank you for sharing your story. I am actually going through the same problem now. Many of my symptoms are just like yours (severe abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting). My only difference is that I've had 18 surgeries (in the last 4 years) and the "surgeon" that did all of these abdominal surgeries magically "disappeared" right after my Grandma passed away (she was my rock through everything and was my ONLY fighter because she always knew something was terribly wrong with everything that was being done.) Furthermore, the one Black doctor that helped my family through 4 generations unexpectedly turned his back on me as well. This has made me even more paranoid because while I like the idea of another Black person being over my care, it makes me wonder are they doing right by their Black patients or merging into the very system that has been against us. Currently, I am in more pain than ever. The Veteran medical system seems to be worse and what now terrifies me is that now that I have NO support system, how long will I have to go through this debilitating pain alone? It has affected even the simplest of tasks in my everyday life, yet I am repeatedly dismissed, ignored, gas-lit, and disrespected when I have to go to any ER (it sure does not help that I live in the south as well). Like you, I thought of a form of reparations as well, but what would that accomplish? There is NO dollar amount that will ever equate to the daily severe pain that I am in (and continue to be in) and the racist evil practices and horrendous theories about the Black body that have survived for centuries is so deeply embedded in this countries healthcare systems that it will remain until this country's final hour.

This is still happening. I went to my doctor and got x-rays that I had arthritis on my spine. I have called his office in the last three weeks have got no answer. Nothing I have been in excruciating pain. They give me tramadol, which I took one and then I took two it did nothingthere’s no dosage on the pill bottle. I have taken it before when I mean the amount of grams of the drug cause it is a drug. I don’t know what else to say.
