Then we would go to a comic shop once a month and I could get one comic and it was always different so I never knew the story arcs but I always loved reading them. Dr. Strange, Hulk, Thor and the Defenders, oh yeah, Star Wars, those were my favourite comics as a wee lad in the 1970s, then I got into the X-Men after issues 107 & 108, they were expanding their storylines into space with the introduction of the Starjammers and Shi'ar Empire then introduced Alpha Flight in 109. I never really got into Captain America, Iron Man or The Avengers too deeply, they were just there in the 616 being predicable, I actually preferred Fantastic Four over the Avengers and Power Man & Iron Fist - Heroes For Hire over anything Cap or Iron Man were doing, hell I collected Power Pack over the Avengers. TBF Cap and Iron Man were never huge sellers since the early 80s, they were being outsold by Ghost Rider and The Thing's solo series, they didn't become popular like they were in the 1960s in mainstream pop culture until the movies came out.
