Great video on this! I got mine a few months after it released for a steal, used but cib for$70, picked up the Mega pack Vol 1 sometime after and have been very happy with it so far. I would def be interested in the jail breaking of it, I’ll start looking for those tools next.

It's a cool hand held, just that it was made with cheap parts though. Only after u jail break it to play all the Neo Geo games it rocks. U can get 50 games on to a mod memory card (just re wire 2 pins on a sd card) so 3 mod cards to get 150 out of 158 official licensed library. I got mine at a bargain on eBay too

Yea modding it is next with the tool. Apparently no rewiring is needed with the included micro SD card housing that comes with the hail break tool. So I can put the full library on 1 card.

Oh boy you jumped into the Neo Geo Rabbit hole! The coolest thing about the Neo Geo X is the dock and controller. You can put a Pi3 in the dock and make it look like a "Mini AES".

Playing on the Neo Geo X to me is kinda like the epitome of 'making the best out of what you have'. It's worth it in that Neo Geo games are just so awesome to begin with but other than that I just think there are just so many (objectively cheaper but subjectively better) ways to play them. But yeah, i think being able to play them is the most important thing to begin with and if someone is having a good time, then awesome. My preferred way is probably on the MiSTer, actually i find myself using the Neo Geo X stick with it occasionally because I do feel that is pretty decent for what it is.

I remember when this came out. It was shunned from its release due to bad low quality parts used, shoddy video out that looks muddy and low resolution, and physical game support dropping relatively quickly. Nonetheless, I bought 2, and I still have 1 sealed, and 1 CIB. I used it for maybe 6 months before it went back in the box where it's been since.

Yea, but I do think it’s a good option for those wanting to play some Neo geo games without hurting the pocket too badly but I agree the quality is bad to a tv.

I was always intrigued by this but the reviews made me stay away. Such a cool idea though, can you use the 8bitdo Neo Geo controllers on it? Those are the best and clicky lol. I’m glad I got to see coverage of this at least, nice vid! Still playing catch up man, sorry I’m late!

I bought my NGX gold for cheap not long after it came out. Sadly not the best way to play but I do like having the controller. Though I wish I kept my box as they seem to go for decent money on eBay as I never use mine since I got the Analogue Pocket and have all the Neo Geo games on there.

Blazing Star for the win! When I got my Neo Geo mini consoles, the game I used to test it was Blazing Star. Such a fun game! Neat video! I hadn't played too much from NeoGeo until a couple of years ago when I got the Switch. Seeing a ton of arcade ports for $8 a piece was pretty exciting, so some of the first games I got on the Switch were arcade games.

Could have a short in the docking station. I know stoneagegamer.com does repairs and recapping they may be able to fix it. Their prices are more than fair.

i still have mine mint in the box, since i got it, found it interesting but decided it is cooler to just keep it new(ish), i also got for it that mega pack vol1 with the charger, so it ads value to it. Anw, i am more of a collector so i am just happy to sleep kowing i have this in my collection, but pretty cool what u did.

I honestly probably get one but I mean even for some that aren't in decent condition they're wanting like 300 but it does include the docking station and controller and I could live with that if the docking station was decent

SNK has nothing but their exclusive games that’s why I don’t even care about their consoles Atari does better then SNK the only consoles worth talking about are Sega Nintendo Panasonic PlayStation Xbox who have 3rd party games and not just exclusive games Nintendo switch right now can’t handle all the 3rd party games must be streamed very boring so Microsoft and Sony and PC Steam are the best for gaming I just hope Nintendo comes out with a better hardware next year that’s not going to be weak can run any game you want like grand theft auto 6

@@thetechbuzzNintendo was my favorite console in the beginning until I found out sega was better then them I didn’t get to play sega that much when I was a kid I couldn’t even play on a PC that was powerful until year 2009 my first PC was purchased in 2005 it wasn’t powerful enough to run street fighter 4 graphics cards are very expensive if you want to play SNK games you can play them all on Nintendo switch Xbox one series X PS4 PS5 don’t need a Neo geo console to play them a console that can’t run third party games
