That's still a common mod on VW group dashboards. Inverted odometer, clock and climate control displays. It's funny how people have been doing it for 20 years, the someone in Wolfsburg noticed and they finally came inverted from the factory, and now people still aren't happy and are inverting it again so it's like before.

Kind of surprised your go to with that corrosion was sand paper. Whenever I have an older piece of battery powered tech that won't turn on/has intermittent power issues, the first thing I do is take a Q tip, dip it in some vinegar (less is more when it comes to conductive liquids) and dab it on the terminals. You'll know pretty quickly if your issue is corroded terminals, as the corrosion will react with the vinegar and start to bubble. Clean it off until you stop seeing bubbles, wipe off as much vinegar as you can with a clean q tip, give it a final wipe down some IPA, and let it dry. Just had to do this with a "working" camera I got off ebay, that was DOA.

Little info about the quartz crystal: Inside the metal tube, the quartz is literally shaped like a tiny tuning fork, pretty much what it is, and I think that’s adorably cute. The tuning is done with gold plating on the tips that is eroded away as needed, but they always tune it to 4096 Hz, because that’s the lowest power of 2 that can’t be heard. Powers of 2 because dividing by 2 is easy for base 2 (I.e. all modern digital) computers.

you're pretty much right with polarized materials (ill be talking about lenses cause I work in an opticians), when talking about polarised lenses you're allowing polarised light to pass through but only in a certain direction so if you stack 2 polarised lenses at 90° to each other, you effectively block out all polarised light, slam another filter in at another angle your effect gets neutralised

Really fun to point a polarizer at the sky 4 hours ± noon -- the light at various points of the horizon will be a gradient of polarization, can you can rotate the filter to darken the sky; used in professional outdoor photos if the sky is too bright of a backdrop and is otherwise the right angle. I forget if it's away from the sun or 90 degrees from the sun that is maximum polarization.

0:39 man that part of the video made me sad as it reminded of the the Wii Balance Board my relatives from Australia sent a few years back. Nothing was mentioned that there were batteries inside the Balance Board and when I checked it was just sad. The whole board was destroyed by the leaking Eclipse batteries that were accidentally left inside by my relatives. It was all blue-green gunk and flaking PCB traces and components falling off. On the other hand the Wii that it came with is alright and still working along with the Wiimotes since they used rechargable batteries. It only came with 2 Disc games New Super Mario Bros, and Wii Sports + Resort, the latter of which I have played a lot of. Also funnily this PAL Wii came pre-modded as NTSC and with Homebrew Channel, Backup HBC, a bunch of console emulators, and USB Loader GX working with the included 500gb external hard drive with a mix of different regions of games.
