Awesome video! You're a budding naturalist! I think you're mystery bird in the tree is definitely a red-bellied woodpecker. The big fish are likely common carp, and your observations about birds back home and those in the US are spot on. A lots of those birds were brought here by europeans hundreds of years ago. The house sparrow, rock pigeon (just normal ol' city pigeon) and starling are all invasive transplants from the UK or other parts of Europe. Your keen observations reveal another interesting truth about the robin vs thrush debate. American Robins (turdis migratorious) are a species of thrush! There are many different thrushes in the world, and they do all have common traits, so you really weren't far off when you thought that fledgling might have been a European thrush! The more critters you familiarize yourself with the more you'll be able to put two and two together like that. Once you start recognizing body shapes, plumage types, and calls a little more regularly, you'll be able to get a good idea of what a bird might be, even if you've never seen it before. Keep getting outside and stay curious! It feeds the soul!

5:11 Could be a Northern Flicker or Red-Bellied Woodpecker? 7:30 is a Double-Crested Cormorant and 9:00 is a Red-Winged Blackbird I went to NYC for a couple of days in January 2023 and loved it, seeing some wildlife that I haven't seen before and others that are also locals in my area (Toronto, ON, Canada). I definitely want to go back during different seasons to see the differences and enjoy the park year round! I do agree with you on seeing a lot of animals at this park in comparison to back home as this ecosystem is both INSANELY MASSIVE and AMAZING for being smack dab in the middle of the New York City. Loved the video mate!
