The balance team MIGHT just be mildly incompetent. And the executional wall for while running moves should have been kept, they've proven to be a consistent problem in this game.

Wrong because drag and azucena’s running attack were mid so you logic doesn’t apply. High attack typically are very plus on block or safe because the best counter play is to duck. A lot of the issue with those characters wasn't just the plus frames, but the situations they could put you in with not a lot of options to deal with them. This is just one move that has additional benefits tied to an install, unlike Drag and Azu who could just do it whenever they wanted.

So you are forced to duck as the only viable counter play. This is the exact same issue we have with Zafina's now HOMING High that's +8. If you don't see that as a problem, than you're just purposely being disingenuous. The whole issue with Azucena's running attack was that it was a task to step it/punish it while it being extremely easier to do the move than it was to defend against it.

I use the destabiliser A LOT! Its such a great, guess time, and it's 50\50 Most online players below Ganryu level😅 havr no idea that after destabiliser, she attacks low, so do that about 2 times and third destabiliser ,do a mid Works like a charm, keep them guessing After Ganryu rank, things get different😂 i cant get pass that level

I think to really buff Asuka and make her viable, they need to buff her main issues and weaknesses: Fundamentals, poking game -especially jabs, movement, mixups etc. Keeping them same, but giving her a stupidly overpowered 50/50 is still a buff, and would definitely save her from bottom tier. But it kinda tastes weird to me. I'm not sure if i like it.

Like you said, the 50/50 buff is just the wrong call. Asuka to me, since t5, has always been a character who had to work up to the 50/50 approach. Before that you have to play very defensively; poking, jabbing, parrying, and punishing. this buff feels like they flipped her fighting style on its head, it feels like step 2 is happening before step 1 which is to say SHE DOESN'T NEED TO EARN HER OFFENSIVNESS.

I think its a good buff to runing 1+2 (aizen) and debilitator are good buffs. She needed something to be on edge to feel better.and if devs want to give us 50/50 kind of game instead of buff her 1 jab and movement then so be it. albeit if there is a future nerf keep the current stats just put a combo scale limit on aizen (runing 1+2) like they did to dragunov although i hope its not that bad not like 70 pct maybe 80% pct.

I don't feel like they were buffs at. It is kinda meh. As players get better gimmicks become less reliable and tools with utility become more valuable. Naniwa power ups are nice in theory. However, a single stock can be gained only after a hit confirm. So she must hit cleanly with a launcher or other move that grants a free follow up. In other words a confirm. She can't do it neutral. She also can't build multiple stocks. Thus limiting the value of the mechanic. Most characters gain access to these kinds of options all the time and have all of their plus on block options as a threat outside of heat. They are able to string moves together consequently and bait side step. Asuka doesn't really have that ability. Even her jab is minus. The only character that has that issue. She also is one of the only characters having only a single armor move outside of the universal heat engager. And it's a high with very little active frames that often gets eaten by other armor moves. This combination of things means the only viable way to use these changes is during heat. That telegraphs your pressure. The heater meter depletes quickly. Quick enough that a couple block strings of plus or a long combo can prevent the asuka player from applying pressure with these new "improved" gimmicks. Her naniwa moves don't have great priority and have bad start up when compared to the typical rotation used by most characters in neutral. The same problem she has with ff2. Decent plus advantage but it's slow 20ish, easily side stepped due linear tracking less than 30 degrees, lacks range from her compact hitboxes, and have poor recovery on wif. I'm going to keep using her because asuka is my homey. However, these buffs changed absolutely nothing of value IMO.

Her move list is small, amd there are only a few moves to worry about with her. Just watch the replays and figure out the moves that give you trouble. A few times doing this, and you will never lose to this character again. She's VERY low tier. This buff does nothing to address her major flaws that keep her one of the worst chars in the game

@@STL76773 It's just how I feel playing her and from what I've seen in tier lists: she is bottom 4. I'm in Fujin. Lots of reasons why: Her damage is weak compared to most characters. We need the wall to do the same damage that other characters can do in the open. Her lows are slow. The fastest are about 20 frames and easily interrupted or readable. This hurts her mix up and poke game a lot. She has a generic 12 frame down 4, but you are -4 on HIT ! Her jab is the worst in the game with bad reach and at -2 on block. Most characters are +1 on block. That also hurts her poke game. She lacks ability to punish: she doesn't have a generic while rising 15 frame launcher to punish lows like a lot of the cast has. Her 12 frame punish (2, 3) is low damage (35) and unsafe. Many characters in this game have a few moves that give a lot of frame trap potential on block (+8, 10, 12!). She has a 23 frame FF1 that gives +5 and if it whiffs, they thought they'd be cute and add a stumbling animation like an anime girl. Now, that has changed with this ridiculous buff to her while running 1+2, but it doesn't change anything with her core issues. Her combos are also inconsistent, her tracking is sub par, etc. I will say this: she has the best defensive abilities in the game, but in Tekken 8 that is not the system. In Tekken 7, she was considered mid-tier and she played much better.

Theyre doing the same with steve taking his away his difficult to do tech to block from lion heart. They also refuse to buff any of his counterhits and just want you to do lion heart into 12 or 1. ... I understand how you feel and I agree to a certain extent, but in all honesty, I would rather it stayed because it's so in character for her. BUT, since it is going to stay, then the benefits of actually connecting it should be just a beneficial as the offensive opportunity is for the opposition receiving the attack. ... in other words, maybe make the move a Guard Break on Block and a forced wall crush when they are up against the wall. And then on hit, it is a combo starter for even managing to land the attack. While a RAW Destabilizer cannot be blocked, the while rising attack that goes into it CAN be blocked. Even on hit from my experience. It will force them to stand up, but it can still be blocked. So I don't understand the use that one.

Because Azu and Drag were God tiers and Asuka bottom 10 :) It was easier for them to buff one or two moves for Asuka than to overhaul her entire moveset. There are serious imbalances, the game is quite complex and didn't have an arcade testing period like previous Tekkens, but overall it is not that bad IMO ( A tiers and mid tiers). Many chars can do 80 dmg or more after a CH launcher or regular launcher.

Asuka don't have a legit mixup after a heat burst. Even if you watch Asuka game play. They don't even spam WR1+2 that often because its a high move.

That she cannot is a good change actually. It made for some terrible matchups like Hwoarang and Steve, who would already be weak against her because you do not really need to guess much should you do a kick sabaki or a punch sabaki. But then combine it with the fact that they have basically no moves which she cannot counter since they completely lack moves which are not punches or kicks. With airborne moves being uncounterable, the matchup is at least a bit more even now.

I hate how the devs go from 1 extreme to the other. I am convinced that the people who balance the game & make gameplay decisions are scrubs. I know Murray is for a fact. I've seen him play on stream.
