Today, in Khartoum, in Sudan, we are going to meet Gamer, our friend from Wadi Halfa, to go with him to see the Nuba fighting. First we explore some local areas in the South of Khartoum, and then we head for a show that will not disappoint us.

Correction from what I said in the video, the Nuba people are different from the Nubian people, they are not from North Sudan, but from West Sudan, from the Nuba mountains.

What is interesting about Sudan is the diversity of its people when i was there. I have encountered Sudan that look like South Sudanese, Upper Egyptian, and Ethiopian and everything inbetween as you probably have noticed. Also the history of Sudan and Egypt is very intertwined historically speaking. In fact part of Sudan nile valley region was Christian at one time which was the Christian kingdom of Nobatia, Makuria, and Alodia and the landmass was from Edfu Egypt to Northern Sudanese town of Dongola. Other regions of what is today Sudan had their own Kingdom example Funj among others. Makuria en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makuria You can see this at Sudan National Museum of the Christian period on Nile Street, as i remembered

The Nubians in South Kordofan actually trace their linage to the ancient Nubian kingdoms, There is a propagated agenda to dislink it from such history. Thank you for your videos, fascinating. Enjoy your stay brother

@@momin_dahab I didn't mention black or justify Africanness in my response! All Sudanese are black 💯! I am emphasizing the existence of root relations between Nubians in Kordofan and further remote Northern Sudan. Research proved this through linguistics, and anthropology (El Sirr M. Fadul) Due to many factors including migration, displacements have alienated this once "homogeneous society" Again! This is not a matter of RACISM! I have no interest in divisive debates at all. There is a reason why in 2007 the regime intentionally flooded Kajbar dam and destroyed Nubian civilizations sites in the Northern state.
@bergenn4774
@bergenn4774 Жыл бұрын
@@Mendy_Ahbizzy The Nubians are a different ethnic group compared to Nuba people. The genetic studies have shown that Nubians genes cluster together with other tribes of the north of Sudan (e.g. Ja’alee tribe), and cluster with Copts and Turks. While Nuba people genes cluster with tribes of South Sudan (e.g. Dinka and Shuluk tribes). Check the study by Hisham et. al. 2008. And there is a debate about the classification of the Nubian language , in many studies classified as Nilosaharan while other studies classify it as Afroasiatic language. Sudanese are Africans because Sudan is located in Africa, but like other countries in North Africa Sudanese population consists of different ethnic groups including Arabs, Copts and few Turks. There is a high frequency of the Arabic gene J1 / J2 in northern, eastern and central Sudanese tribes excluding tribes of the west and south of Sudan.

I would like to comment on one sentence you mentioned in the beginning of the video while introducing the problem in Sudan when you said "Maybe Islamic law was good 1000 years ago, but for the modern world it's not well adapted" and let me explain to you the real special situation in Sudan case. First of all, as you have seen during your journey in Sudan, all the people are nice, kind and welcoming. That how they were raised up and actually this is the real islamic law! It's about good behaviour, doing good, being kind, humble, honest....etc. The islamic law which was introduced through media is the "political" side, which doesn't reflect the real soul of islamic instructions. And it's well known that "Politics is a dirty game", so the "Muslim Brotherhood" are a group of politicians and army members who misused the "Love of Islam" in the heart of the Sudanese people to control them in the name of "Saria'a" & "Islamic Law" which made confusion in the people's minds about whether the "Islamic Law" itself is the problem or the "wrong practice of islamic law is the problem", and actually it was practiced out of the context intentionally by that group of people who wanted to dominate others by exploiting the people's religious passion. I hope this clarifies the confusion here. All the best and good luck on your journey!

I'm from Sudan, thank you for the video it was very interesting, I disagree with what you mentioned in 1:28 > Sudan's problem is not because of Islamic law , in fact what all u see from Sudanese as kind and honest etc is due to islamic values, the problem is the Politicians, they are the once who destroyed the country, Islamic law also is knows as sharia law is very good and can build a great country like Qatar, Kuwait and other Muslim countries if applied correctly. Yves I invite you to Islam, islam, prophet Mohammed is sent for all human kind and he is the last messenger.

You are poor or rich, not because of your beliefs rather it's about the resources and how you manage them. Anyways, these are complicated issues. A short stay in a country wouldn't be enough to formulate a fair opinion about them. Thank you for your efforts to show the country and stay safe!

I dream of traveling and learning about other cultures the way that you do, and my question is, around how much should a person have saved to do something like this? I would be okay with the bare necessities- camping every night and living as cheaply as possible. but i know it is smart to have money saved incase of an emergency also- i understand if you are not comfortable sharing this information. an extremely rough estimate is all I ask for :) thank you!

I've been watching since the start of your journy and to be honest with you I didnt expect to hear that from you at the start of the video , Like you have been to Jordan , Lebanon , Syria And Iraq All of them are Islamic countries , and you have seen how everyone is friendly and respectful because this is the way that we are raised as muslims , but here you tell the whole world that Islam is the cause of what you see in Sudan , When its the other way around its becausr of politics forced by your western countries on Sudan and other areas , Really dissapointed from you

Yve the fault isn't in the Islamic law the fault is in the corruption of the unpatriotic army that rules by arms in the arabian countries which isn't ruled by royal families. And I wanna clarify something else, the army does not protect religious minorities. In Egypt, the Egyptian people are harmonious and intertwined with each other. They do not differentiate between one person and another because of their religion or race.

wow, I though Sudanese are much more Arabs than Africans, this video makes me realize that their traditions, music, everything is much more African, no wonder why they're against the Muslim brotherhood, that's belong to the culture of their colonizers, not of them

Sudan is a big country with open borders. Most of the people you see in this video are not originally Sudanese. If you watch old films from the fifties, sixties and seventies showing streets of Khartoum you will see that the people then had Arabic features and looked different from the people in this video who are mainly migrants from African countries or displaced people from west and South Sudan who are pure Africans unlike north/east Sudanese who are Arabs or mixed with Arabs. Khartoum is located in north Sudan which is predominantly Arab people. But since 1989 the government of president Omer Albashir for 30 years worked on changing the demographics of Khartoum by opening the borders to neighboring west African countries. Also the USA and Europe played a role in the Africanization of Sudan. The result is now obvious as you can see in this video the northern Sudanese population that is indigenous to the land of north Sudan became a minority in its own territory. This is reason you see more Africans than Arabs in this video or in other words you see mostly non-Sudanese people in this video. The indigenous people are now a minority in Khartoum.
