Great footage Gary. You’re making me love our new adopted home even more. We did view houses in the Galloway area but ended up in the highlands. Isn’t the weather insane. You should have seen the hail storm we had tonight. Snow not far away. Our first Christmas here was white. Not had a white Christmas in Essex for over 35 years xx

The drone footage is brilliant, I don't know how you can do it whilst driving. I have had 2 drones and lost the first one in the sea within 2 minutes of taking it out of the box then I got another and lost that in the first 5 minutes. No more drones for me. I will stay there at the viaduct on my next visit to the Galloway Forrest.
@TravelwithGaryandAmika Жыл бұрын
I did exactly the same with my 2 grand Mavic in 2019, its in Cancun sea! Takes a lot of practice, I either put it at a safe height and follow me mode, or use waypoints. Its tricky
@davidbarnes241 Жыл бұрын
Fantastic work on the drone footage. How do you manage to fly the drone and drive at the same time if you don’t mind me asking? By the way, I think the seed pod is an opium poppy. I’m up in D&G myself over Christmas and New Year’s, so may have a look at that area. Cheers
@TravelwithGaryandAmika Жыл бұрын
Hi David, thanks a lot. The drone has a tracking mode on it. Or I can set way points and get it to follow them. Or use zoom/pan on the video editor :) Not sure about the seed, to my poor knowledge opium poppy seeds are tiny, Saw plenty in Afghanistan!! Keen to work it out though, its was huge! D&G will be great over that time, we are thinking of running through there also around that time!
@TerryMcGearyScotland Жыл бұрын
@@TravelwithGaryandAmika You’re right about poppy seeds being tiny. That looks -on my phone at least- to be a bulb of some sort. Maybe a water lily or such washed out when the river was bursting its banks maybe?
@davidbarnes241 Жыл бұрын
The seeds are tiny, but the pods are about an inch and a half long and an inch across and have a calyx at the top to disperse the seeds. Maybe it’ll still be there when I visit 👍

Gary this time of year snakes will be doing the sensible thing hibernating so don't worry plus they are more scared of you and will move away when they feel you coming (vibration). Amika the gem stone place outside Fort William is well worth a visit you can find your birth stone and the Chinese animal for the year of your birth the sad thing is this time of year a lot of the tourist attractions have closed for the winter. Something you might try Gary my new pickup truck has the new idea of battery instead of lead acid now use calcium they have a better cold start and hold their charge better plus not as harmful for the environment don't know how much because they come as as standard on all Ssangyong vehicles. I agree with you about dog walkers who don't clear up afterwards it is the law £100 for not carrying bag's £150 if you don't clear up, it is not nice when you go for a walk and step in something.
@TravelwithGaryandAmika Жыл бұрын
Good. Bloody horrid things are snakes! Oh we will definitely ho to the gem place, I just told her and she jumped up and down at the idea! I actually have lithium batteries in this van Mark.good bits of kit
@OldBaron5664 Жыл бұрын
The calcium batteries replace the main engine one they have a lower cold start temperature than lead acid which during the current weather situation is a good thing
