I'm not normally a fan of 3D printing, but that lid proved that there is a place for it. Great video.

Do you miss using traditional tools? I recently found a good supplier for my carbide tips and was pleasantly surprised by how well they cut again like it was the first time! But I do still prefer the cut of a freshly sharpened hss. And the process just seems to give me more fulfilment. Looks like you have moved completely over? Brilliant turning I like it! Ignore if you want but i does sound a bit like a promotional video calling out the name every single time you use an easy wood tool. Is that a contractual thing? I think most people watching will have a good idea of what you’re using after the first time. ❤❤

I have switched over to carbide completely now yes, so I mention each tool as I use them as it has been requested of me quite a few times in the past to let new viewers and turners watching know what I am using and when(I also mention every other product I use as and when I’m using it for the same reason)Although Easy Wood Tools do support me I am in no way contracted to just use their tools in my video, if I wanted to use HSS I could do, I just chose not to, when I had ‘traditional tools’ I always found myself reaching for carbides so it seemed pointless keeping them and believe it or not, and this may sound like I am being bias but I really am not, I’ve tried a lot of variety’s over the years and you are going to have to go some to beat a better carbide cutter than the easy wood tools cutter, hope this explains everything 👍🏻
@withoutdoors52303 ай бұрын
@@jpwoodwork thanks bro. Makes sense! I only have a few cheaper ones but with half decent tips now. Also experience the reaching for them feeling! Especially with that pointy detail one! Sounds like i need to try an easy wood tools one! Hopefully they’re at the Harrogate show! 🤞🤞thanks for not taking offence, wasn’t meant as such. You can’t ignore people asking you what you’re using when you’re a helpful channel! 👍🏻

@@withoutdoors5230no worries at all! I don’t take offence easily 😂Easy wood tools sell via Axminster and Doug from easy wood tools will actually be there at Harrogate too if you have any questions as will I so be sure to come and say hi! 👍🏻

I really like your work. I'd like to ask a favor: I assume a 'detailer' is a skew, and a '#1 hollower' is a 1/2" gouge. Would you translate the others for me? Thank you.
@jpwoodwork2 ай бұрын
Yes, absolutely, so they are all flat extremely sharp carbide cutters, the detailer is a diamond shaped one, the finisher is a circle one, the rougher is a square one and the No1 hollower is a smaller circle one and when the cutters get dull you just unscrew them rotate until they are dull all the way around and then you replace the cutter. They just like the handles are available from easy wood tools

I can’t remember off hand I will have a look when I get on to my laptop tomorrow for you, all my music is from epidemic sounds tho, there’s a link in my description 👍🏻
