You did a fine job with it JP. Bug trails are just what they are. Our task, if we choose to accept, is to make the best we can of them. I like the use of the pigment powder. I thought you were going to use the embellishing wax. Great job.

Great job. Love the worm holes. It’s big here in the states with all kinds of projects. Big money.. 🍻👍

Thanks a lot and really?? Now I’m intrigued
@BillMulholland12 күн бұрын
@ yes. People pay big money for rustic wood that’s been recycled with damage and worm holes. For example, you can pay US$5000 for a picnic table made from a tree that was infested with giant worms.

How many coats of sanding sealer in the inside of the bowl?
@jpwoodwork2 күн бұрын
Just the one, just enough to make sure that the oil in the Yorkshire grit doesn’t soak into the wood as the oil helps the grit to break down properly, it isn’t 100% necessary as you can just use 2 coats of YG. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

I could start putting a picture of the cutter up on screen as I’m using it? How’s that? But also for reference when I say ‘finisher’ that is a large round one, ‘rougher’ is a square one and the ‘detailer’ is a diamond shape one….. oh and the No1 hollower is also circle only a smaller diameter…. Hope this helps

Hello JP, I am just getting back to running a wood lathe ( haven’t seriously turned anything in 30 years) dusted off and got a lathe running again as well in the last few months. Could you do an in depth video on making the mounting recesses for chucks, proper use of face plates and such! Like I said it has been a little while !
@jpwoodwork7 күн бұрын
Funny you say that, they were both videos I was planning on doing at some time in the future…. Have fun getting back into the craft 👍🏻

@ I intend to, I am also trying to get my kids involved in wood working!

@thesmallwoodlot4337 күн бұрын
@ well we have to teach the hobbies and trades to our kids now at home because all the industrial arts classes are moving to trade or tech schools where you now get a G.E.D. And little job placement opportunities, vs going through HS and being able to test out some of the trades and get your diploma. Besides I also believe that the future generations need to learn how to do for themselves vs paying through the nose for a small repair!
@jpwoodwork7 күн бұрын
Amen to that!! Seems like less and less houses are owning simple power tools these days as they don’t know how to fix simple tasks and would rather pay over the top prices

Nice recovery at 1:35 filling in that crack! At right around the 8:56 mark it appears that the bowl has an inconsistent thickness on the inner diameter. IS that typical or am I being picky? Great job none the less. Beautiful work on the bowl and nice work on the video editing and over-dubbing too. I like when every step is painstakingly explained.
@jpwoodwork8 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot, yes i must admit the thickness isn't perfectly uniform all the way round, and no you aren't being picky :) Thanks again for watching
