Many years ago, my grandparents had a little cottage in the Pineys at Laurel Lake. I used to spend summers there with them, trekking through the woods, swimming and fishing in a lake of "cedar water," picking wild blueberries in the woods in the autumn.... Gosh, I miss those days. This video was a shot right in the nostalgia- thanks, Cap.

What a beautiful history story. I'll never get to your area so I very much appreciate you taking me along. You have the best voice for taking people on tours...you sound like Huell Howser. Yes, come along and sail with the Captain would be a catchy little phrase for you. 😊

Back road trips are amazing. I always get off the beaten path when I travel. In 2013, I took 5 days and drove 2500 miles on the back roads of Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, into Saskatchewan back into Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. I drove on interstates less than 100 miles of that tour. What a trip!

Touring history with the Captain 👍 Corn cribs aren't used anymore because birds, mice, rats could eat the harvest before humans got to eat it. Much crop loss.

I used to go off-roading with my buddies in the Pines when I was in HS especially the trails in Wharton St Forest and the craziest thing ever was when we accidentally stumbled upon the old KKK church that’s tucked away back there. Creepiest vibes ever. Also Pine Barrens was easily top 5 TV show episodes of all time!

I have been in Batsto a few times. I have canoed the Batsto river. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the bog iron railroads. These ran from the bogs to the river to take the ore to the boats. The boats would travel down the river to Batsto to the iron works. It’s the iron that gives the rivers there dark color. I have explored alot of those abandoned lines.

From Delco grandparents had a trailer in the pine Barron's many times as a kid I would look outside wondering what the devil was or looked like new jersey must be the darkest state at nighttime and very foreboding. Hey captain chk out hammerhead bat that's what people getting a glimpse of and the alien appearance of the hammerhead is a incredibly close match to the descriptions of the jersey devil.

Anymore you won't find much of the old forgotten towns. Unfortunately, people have destroyed and graffitied most of the old ruins. Back in the late 70's and early 80's I photographed most of these old ruins before they were messed up. Had a jeep back in them days to get around to these places. I just hate to see what has happened to some of these places.
