I lived in Fitchburg as a child. We moved in 1976 to another part of the state. Fitchburg was beginning to die then. Heartbreaking to see that it's even worse now than it was back then. Hello everyone, I am Gerald the guide in this video. I want to apologize for any wrong information that I gave.Going into filming the video Peter And I were not planning on making the video Migrant oriented but during filming it worked out to make the most sense. I went Into filming on 4 hours of sleep over 3 night's was nervous before shoot. I really should have planned the whole route better and points of contact, there were a few bad apples and people who fell through or times did not match up. Sorry to you Peter and the Audience, Harder to speak in front of Camera than I thought. So to Start I'm writing this before seeing the video. I just want to correct what I said and any wrong or missed info. Wachusett Mountain was purchased by the state in 1900 for $20,000. The word wachusett originated from the Native American term “near the mountain” or "mountain place” .There was a Summit house on top which was a hotel and other amenities which burned down in 1970. The mountain is in Westminster and Princeton. The Crowleys the family who owns the ski resort leases land from the state. Westminster received a good amount of migrant familys which was never discussed in video. Fitchburg and neighboring communities main industry's were mills. Textile mills, paper mills, tool companies etc. The Rivers got polluted From companies dumping dyes into rivers from clothing etc. Fitchburg is also the hilliest town/city in Massachusetts. Sterling Ma is where mary had a little Lamb the poem was made and Sudbury the town right next to Concord is where Henry ford moved the mary had a little lamb schoolhouse along with put up the Grist Mill and renovated the Longfellow Inn the oldest inn in the USA, along with Fords Folly (look into story). A few prisons and hospitals closed in Massachusetts recently. In the Town of Ayer, one of the towns in Video, Nashoba Valley Medical Center, a hospital closed down on August 31st 2024. In Concord the Prison closed down in July of 2024. MCI Concord which is the oldest prison in the state of Massachusetts, started in 1878 closed this year. We went to Fitchburg which I desribed as a rough around the edges town but a New England town with A old school charm and starting to get Better. The reason I call Fitchburg rough (there are way rougher towns in MA Fyi) but the neighboring town Leominster is a lot better maintained and upkept. Leo and Fitch were considered Twin Cities but driving in Fitchburg the roads are way worse, the sidewalks are overgrown and the city is slowly coming back. They are doing some stuff but theres still a feeling of parts being neglected. Fitchburg has a really Nice art Museum and they have Fitchburg state which really helps out the town. Leominster got really bad Flooding last year, a lot of roads, houses, buildings, and highways were flooded and damaged. Cars were underwater in some parts and some parts are still getting rebuilt. Again sorry about my factual mistakes and not being the best guide I could have been, was very nervous. We started filming In Central Mass and made our way over to Historic Concord which is closer to Boston. A lot of towns we drove through are facing the same hotel situations and overall problems that Peter and I investigated. We didn't shed any light on most of the towns, just visited a few during the shoot. Lastly, I'm not on Any side on any of the topics discussed. I'm neutral when it comes to everything going on and everything political. I also want to thank you Peter for letting me be a guide despite my blunders, your a good Guy and I appreciate you giving me a chance. I forgot that hotel existed off of Rt. 2. Just wondering if you ever talked to an economist about the pressure that illegals are putting on the price of rents throughout America? Also, with them taking up so many hotels, how much pressure do illegals put on hotel room prices? I'm sure they're economists at think tanks who have come up with numbers to show how much pressure 22 million illegals have put on the prices of rent, houses and hotel rooms.

When that expires they apply for asylum and move into one of the buildings next to the hotel with their family's. They are roofers and skilled labor jobs, and high paying jobs ots crazy. Why won't people listen to me? I hate how diverse MA is. I grew up here and am 35 years old. I've watched it turn into a sess pool of idiots. They've been driving out Republicans for years. MA is an educational engine of our country filled with the least patriotically wise people you'll ever find. They're all a bunch of greedy arrogant cowards that barely ever leave their state so they have no idea what the rest of the country is like. There's a saying we have, "it's too expensive to move here, and everyone already here, never wants to move". They are flooding our first established state with foreigners. I can't walk down the street and see anyone that fits my demographic. Do you have any idea how lonely that feels? The segregation is off the charts. This place is filled with the most racist "antiracist" people you will ever encounter. Everyone walks on eggshells. The only people here that have Republican views are the poorest people. I'm a relative of Emily Dickenson and a U.S. Marine so I would like to think that my opinion about what this place has truly become, holds some relevant value. I don't go to your deeprooted neighborhood and make it diversificationally ugly, so don't do it here. Our founding fathers would not want to flood our first established state with people that don't speak English and haven't fought for our freedoms. What the people in power from this state are doing is reckless and profoundly insulting. Boston doesn't have a clue what's happening on the western half of their state. Why would they when most people that work in Boston, live in New Hampshire because of the no tax benefits. Honestly, you are all missing something very very important and I urge you to look again.

BEST TAKE YET ON 'ALL THINGS BORDER/MIGRANT-RELATED': "...How can we as Americans expect to propagandize the entire world about dreams, through Hollywood, the music industry, and the testimonies of self-made American billionaires, while simultaneously exploiting the labor, crops, and raw earth materials of the developing nations, freezing the economies of our political opponents through trade sanctions, and creating rivalry drug cartels with our insatiable appetite for cocaine, fentanyl, meth, and heroin, and not expect a global economic refugee crisis at the southern border?..." So there will be a influx of people in those occupations leaving many in those occupations unemployed. Of the so called lowly occupations, individuals will price gouge thier service fees to all. Doesn't help they keep raising the minimum wage YoY in MA. Just to think we went from $10/hr to $15/hr in like 4 years and there's current legislation too keep raising it until $20/hr (in 2027). So essentially if you were making $20/hr in 2020 instead of making $10/hr over minimum wage you are making just $5/hr over now, combined with inflation of the USD you are making basically $4.63 more than minimum wage in 2020 lol. Just sucks wage gains for the common person has been wiped out in this state over the past 4 years.

Not sure about the rest of Europe but this is a big thing happening in the U.K. right now. 5star-3star hotels are full of illegal immigrants all of which is paid for by us British tax payers. Yes I understand that some of these people have come here to escape danger in their home countries.. but most them are just there to take advantage of what the British government will offer them. The thing I find most disgusting is that they have no respect for British culture. They treat the county like it is their own. The hotels smell bad and the hallways are littered with shoes and dirty dishes and trash. As an immigrant to the USA that I paid for in time and money and as someone that respects US culture it really annoys me that these people treat our countries so poorly.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but almost everyone living in the United States comes from families that were immigrants at some point unless they are 100% American Indian. The government tried to change immigration laws this year, but one political party voted against it because of someone who wanted to use this issue in this year's election. The way I hear people talk about immigrants now is the same way I remember people talking about Puerto Ricans coming to this country in the 1980s and 90s, which is really sad. We are all humans!!! Can we start treating each other like we would want to be treated! I would love it if Peter could have interviewed one of the immigrants that gave up everything and travel half around the world in hopes of finding a safer, better life, to end up living in one room at motel with their whole family and not being able to work due to our governments regulations. I hope that a video from that view is coming.
