I love how pop culture has dolled up the Jolly Roger all nice, but in reality the symbol looked like the most rudimentary troll face imaginable lol

I was there. It was so much fun walking through. I went back later. They seemed to be filming something for the History Channel. So I went back again that day. I was able to go where they weren't filming. At least I fired the cannon. Before they took the firing pin away. No fun when they film there. I was lucky to of been able to fire that cannon once. As I jumped back a few feet afterwards. It was so loud and real. Couldn't resist the SILVER - I got the least expensive one. Which was expensive of course. But it's authenticated. Ironically I've been to Bimini & Puerto Rico & St. Augustine and I live in Jacksonville. I will never look at St. John's river the same again. The pathway of Ponce De Leon. Such amazing history. I managed to climb the St. Augustine Light House all 219 steps. Not bad for turning 73. I figured out why they had a bench at the half way up mark. The take a breather from climbing 100 steps. Halfway Mark.

I'd love to visit this museum. I love that it's interactive which makes fun for both adults and kids alike. I'd also have to buy a pirate's chest to ship home everything I'd buy in that gift shoppe ;)

that place is so iconic, i recognized it before i even read the title.... and it's been about ten years since i last saw it. it's weird because i was thinking about this museum just a few days ago and how i would love to see it again. my kids were only little tykes when we were there. they barely remember the trip but they remember the museum and the fort.. my youngest son specifically remembers the guard at the fort entrance. he was dressed in period clothes and had a bag of coins, souvenirs for the kids. my son was afraid of him at first, but then he heard that bag jingling lol he's been collecting coins ever since. he also has a pretty big fascination with pirates (think Pirate Steve....yeah...) it's funny how those seemingly little insignificant things help shape your personality when you're little.
